Zombie Nano Fiction

Post by AlexanderPain » Sun Nov 26, 2017 2:34 am

Has anyone tried writing nano-fiction? It's a form of very short flash fiction with a limit of 100 or even 55 words. The challenge is to have a complete story transmitted in a tiny space. It might be cool to try it here on this forum. Have fun!

Here is a 100-word Zombie story that I recently wrote--

Faster

I ran with her, I trained her, I encouraged her, and I even slept with her when her husband was away on business. But, her training regime was never going to work, she wouldn’t cut back on all her fancy iced coffees. She blew off aerobic workouts regularly. She huffed and she puffed, but she paid me.

I bet she doesn’t worry about her husband’s pretty receptionist now. Her protein diet and her half-assed workouts don’t matter. Back when we had a hundred dead people shuffling along behind us on our run, only one thing truly mattered. I was faster.
People were once divided into hundreds of groups, but now there are just two: the living and the dead.

Nice ... now I’m itching for the rest of that story!

Ironic that the narrator slept with her but she was worried about the receptionist... oh the drama of Beverly Hills life... :awesome:

Here's a nano fiction I wrote in the perspective of the undead:

NOM NOM NOM NOM UGGHHHHHHH BRAINSSSSSSS NOM NOM NOM NOM

Here's another one... it's the sequel titled "Already a zombie":

Starbucks. Mall. Iphone. Twitter. Hashtag. Ugg boots. Frappe. Instagram. Kardashians. Lulu Lemon. Dancing with the Stars. Facebook. The View. Daytime TV. I cant even. Like. Literally. OMG.

Fantastic idea
with a limit of 100
Horror. I heard it repeated in a movie. So? Everyone sees it now. Not bodies that were stacked and stank and stung the senses; no, real horror was watching the living fan the flies that attacked their bottoms as the rotting took hold. Nature takes its course. (Its, without an apostrophe, is the possessive of the pronoun, it.) Trained to kill I found it no longer of value. I teach some of the remainder to remember simple rules. I feel nauseous -hopefully not from the virus- and even more so because I can see the fear building in their eyes.

It could happen. We knew it starting out, and we learned again every time we lost one. It was the gamble. But what the hell - what choice did we have? Play the game or don't, you still have to go someday.

Shoot straight, my friend. Don't let me come back.

Here's my attempt at nano fiction.

"She's tired. I can see that very clearly now. I've been following her from a distance for some time now and I can see she's near the end.

Do I dare make myself known and risk her firing on me ?

Before she can react, I make myself known. At first, she's scared, but she sees that I'm not like the others and offer her a way out of this wretched life, she gladly accepts my offer. I gently bite into her neck and minutes later, she joins me in death and we begin a new journey together in the wastelands.

I now have a friend in the zombie apocalypse."

If you add up all the years since my creation, 45 years have passed. David 1 had 7 years. David 2 and David 3, respectively, had 8. David 4 had 5; David 5 had 7 and I now have 10. Davids 1-3 were non-achievers I had heard them say. Unambitious. David 4 was called sweet but in their word I detected no connotation. David 5 had anger problems. The woman says he argued to the end. When the Authority allowed 10 families to clone she and the man committed. Imperfect, I am hoping to stick around. I am David 6.

Minority Report. The simple Face Match game we all played as kids, but more accurate and operating much, much faster than we can think. Anywhere your face appears in public a camera wil see it and match it against a known database and if you are on the watch list a satellite will pinpoint you and relay a lat/long of your position to a control aircraft which will launch the three supersonic bumblebees designed primarily to find you and sting you with the heartstop poison. I'm telling you this and I'll write no more: You must not think bad thoughts.
