I am way behind on such things. I have two trips worth of pictures to post on my blog, my trauma kit rebuild and also pix of a survival vest, battle belt and the chest rig. Mea culpa!

After FINALLY getting a real rifle (been rocking a 15-22 for far too long) I've got my chest rig almost ready (Having the 15-22 really helped me figure out how/where I want things while I didn't have funds), will post pictures when my shingle pouches get in from Amazon. Just thought I'd necro this thread while I wait for my packages.

Just some old style mid-late 90's BW LB gear. Holster fits Walther P1/38s obviously. My Cz82 and Bulgarian Makarov also fit nicely. Shovel pouch- Ive been debating between using it for an actual shovel or as an ad hoc dump pouch. The large pouch is nicely divided and water bottles fit in two interior divides nicely. Mag pouches are obviously intended for G3/Cetme mags (I used to own one). They fit stripper clips for both my SKS and Lee Enfields. 6 stripper clips of Enfield ammo fit reasonably in each or 4 SKS stripper clips.

The gear is of fairly high quality and I prefer this set up to many of the tac-vests out there.

Most actual military surplus tends to be pretty durable stuff, since it's intended to be used and abused by private soldiers in rough conditions.

I still have a USGI ALICE pattern LBE, perfectly servicable. Would be better if I could find a place to put a more current IFAK - the old school single pressure bandage isn't really up to snuff.

rowdyrugby,
how do those G3 pouches fit for AR mags?
Any chance that the holster is ambidextrous? Being a southpaw makes everything more difficult....

I would imagine that 10 round AR mags might fit. The mag pouches are pretty boxy so a long curved mag wont work. My holster is right hand only. The attachment system is such that you wont be able to use it lefty. Bundeswehr webbing is quite unique. Despite the super high quality, it is limited to only what was produced for the German army because the attachment system is so unique. Ive never seen a left handed holster.

Got around to adding a tiny fixed knife to this Ares Armor Derma pc. I guess a small knife is better than no knife. I didn't want it sticking out or hanging up my sling.

I ended up just using a tiny bit of shock cord attached to the molle loop on one side behind where the mag pouch is and on the other side where the cobra buckle extends to the cummerbund. Really simple but it hugs the plate and can be pulled away from the plate a bit so you can grab the handle.

BLACKHAWK S.T.R.I.K.E. Commando Recon Chest Harness

Nothing on the back of the vest so I can choose to wear a hydration pack or a ruck or comfortably sit in a vehicle.
Level IIIA soft armor insert inside the front panel. Front of vest has a flashlight pouch, three pistol mag pouches and a pistol in a CQC Serpa holster.
For rifle mags I have a war belt that rides right below the vest.

My companion on this trip had full Multicam and it actually blended well. Not sure if I have pictures of him.
