CNY/WNY Meetup?

...Do we have anything in the cards for this spring/summer? What about a weekend camping or bbq...I haven't had the time to scroll through everything really, just a few minutes here and there, things have been hectic, but thought I'd throw out the idea

I am up for a meetup. As much as I love the Adirondacks, that is a good haul for me; so if we can meet somewhere inbetween that would be great. I know I haven't been very active on ZS for a while; just to busy with many things.

For the meetup, should it be a simple meet at a bar somewhere, or should we go full boar and plan a camping/hiking/shooting etc. excursion? Most likely it would need to be on a weekend for me.

I am getting Spring Fever! I need to get outdoors!

What are your thoughts?

Depending on how many of us want in on it, I want to get out doors too... Hopefully some others jump on board.

Where are you located? I like the idea of the old abandoned military base; I don't believe that ever happened. I think what we should do is identify within our AO; what outdoor excursion would be worth while.

I'm in Syracuse. I would actually like to go camping, to be honest. I don't know anything about the military base idea.. was something planned with that before?

Yes the military base was initiated by MikeM, I believe; it was located in the finger lakes region? maybe, I would need to re-look. The premise was to meet close by, and then camp there for a weekend. I like the camping idea; where would a good place be in Syracuse?

SirSharpe - You still with us?

I have always wanted to finish or do an additional stretch of the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail. Starts in Rochester, by passes Letworth State Park and ends more or less in Cuba, NY. Granted I would not suggest doing the entire thing within a weekend; but maybe a hike, and camping. It follows the Genesee River, so there would be plenty to do.

Yeah, look into the base, brother. I will look into some camping spots in and around the area. We'll figure something out.

Isn't that crazy, we are in "Inactive" status now? How does that happen?

Anyways Sampson Airforce base (closed in BRAC in 2000), is still on the table. Used to have the largest stockpile of nuclear armaments in the country. Who knows if it is still "Hot", but still viable to do.

What is on everyone's plates for this spring/summer?
