Yup its my DD. Im looking for a small 4 door pickup to be a backup type rig but I haven't found anything I like yet. Other thought was just picking up a newer stock jeep and turning this to complete trail rig but meh I enjoy driving it to much to do that yet. Not much downtime I do most of the work on my weekends off but if there is we have the wifes car.

Think the only thing that will push this to a dedicated trail rig will be moving up a couple more pay levels at work and picking up a FJ.

I forgot what you drive but if I recall its nice. When you can just pick up something cheap without to much wrong with it and build it into something you like its rewarding. Shit I only paid $500 for this thing, granted the kid was dumb as rocks and only wanted $300 for it. his mom asked me to up it to $500. Yes mam. :D

Well, I certainly think my 9-year-old, scratched-up and pockmarked to Hell Subaru WRX is completely sweet, she don't turn heads like she used to when she was younger.

She's starting to get up there, and I may need to get a newer DD, but she's never failed me yet.

Maybe a 4runner or Tacoma (I'm not really a Jeep guy).

Actually, Maybe I should just nut up and go completely oddball, and start looking for a 1990-1993 Dodge Ram Cummins W250 5-speed extended-cab 4x4 for "Project Leviathan" that's been in my head a few years.

Also needs a better name, because I can't call it Leviathan when M35s are around.

Nice work, Swunk. Very nice. Is this your daily driver? Do you have a spare car? I've been wondering about downtime and modding. I'm to where I can't crack my car open anymore because I just cannot miss work and I don't have a beater.
V_Lee, is a bicycle a viable option? Or public transport? Because I really do think you should pursue that truck if you are able to. I mean life's short, yanno? Go have fun. Get dirty.

Fuck fuck fuck!

So overheated about 4 days ago for the first time ever, fine after that, fine yesterday even with 100 miles to sonic and back, fine all day to and from work . Run out for dinner come home and its pukeing all over the driveway couldn't see where it was coming from but I did notice the electric fan was not on.

Took tomorrow off to finish painting the boys room. Looks like thats getting pushed off till saturday. :wall:

Ya its stock but that wasn't it.

Welp fans fine ripped into the entire front end and all it was was a pin hole in the lower radiator hose.

Fucker is gonna sit like this till tomorrow since I sent the wife to work with her car instead of driving her. Leaving me no way to go out for parts. :?

Ya know, if there new parts, you need them more than 20 bucks, and you can't get to the parts store, IIRC most taxi cab services will bring you parts for regular cabfare.

So started overheating again turns out fan doesn't want to turn on time to time so it randomly overheats.

Think relay so I jump it and fan works fine.

If you ever need to constant on your fan its this one..
Image

Go get new relay, replace it, let It get to temp still no fan.

Fuck it time to run a switch.

Wired it up ran wires out top of box.
Image
Along the wiring harness...
Image

To switch....
Image

Switch in dash...
Image

Blamo get in turn on fan and that bitch stays on. Jeeps running about 10° cooler and even seems to be running better.

Simple easy fix I have been wanting to do for a wile.

If it still doesn't work with a new relay, I'd be looking at the engine temp sensor. My Ranger has two: one to the dash, one for the computer. Not sure if the Jeep is similar, but might be something you want to look into.

Same thing happened in my beater Escort. Funny thing was that if I jumped the sense side of the relay the starter would crank when the ignition was on. I checked the wiring schematic and I don't see how that could have happened unless something was goofy with the aftermarket alarm in this thing.

If I jumped the power side the fan would run while the car was off, then stop when I turned it on.

I eventually just pulled the relay and wired the fan and a switch directly to it.

Im thinking temp sensor also, pulled and cleaned one the other is not as easy to get to IIRC. im liking the switch though I may want to put a label on my dash for tired mornings. Hay asshole turn on fan or something.
