If you have a self-loading (aka semi-automatic) pistol, the magazine is often the weak part of the machine. This post by Trebor goes over the basics of how to keep your magazines in good working order.

DavePal84 has a very detailed post about how to set up your gear so it's useful. Thinking of making the transition from a mall ninja to someone who looks more informed? This is a good place to start.

Are you a citizen of the UK and curious about the requirements and restrictions regarding firearm ownership? Brit-Zedhunter has outlined this subject in this thread:

The ZS forums has a variety of good advice on firearms training. Here are some of the best threads:

The best equipment is worthless if you don't know how to use it. DavePal84 goes into some detail in this thread about getting up off your ass and getting training:

Training with rimfires
Not everyone can afford to train with full-powered ammo all the time. A person can get do a lot of good by training with rimfire firearms for a fraction of the cost. DavePal84 has a great write-up about this topic here:

http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/view ... 16&t=48534

Training with snap caps
Lenny suggests using snap caps during live fire to similar real-world stoppages:

Proper handgun practice
Good thoughts from Trebor on how to practice with a handgun:

Selection of a carry gun
More great advice from Trebor here:

In the PAW you won't be able to jump onto midwayusa and order up some new bullets to load into ammo. Christian for Israel has a really thorough write up on how to cast your own bullets here:

It's handy to know how to do this, whether you wish to save money or be self-sufficient.

The newest awesome thread by DavePal84, Troglodyte Maintenance for the AR-15/M-16. This is an informative write up on how to properly maintain one of the most popular rifles in existence.

Many Zombie Squad members pride themselves on self-sufficiency. This thread by imrcly shows you how to make your own jacketed bullets using spent rimfire brass. In a long term disaster situation, this could be a real boon, and a marketable skill to have. It's threads like this that really make me proud to be involved in this community!
