Noises in The Night

Post by Svothe » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:41 am

Hey ZS:X
Recently at night there has been a fair bit of trouble in my area, I live in a fairly small village around 20 minutes away from a medium sized town and around two months ago one of the elderly pensioners cars got smashed in repeatedly, nothing taken just smashed up. This happened more than three times to the same car, now we have installed a small CCTV camera although now due to the incidents stopping it has been removed (It was setup by local LEO's) now last night at around 3:20AM I heard loud footsteps and very simply running at full pelt down the road. Around 30 seconds after a car came down with all its lights on and the interior lights on. He then searched around for a few minutes and disappeared back up the road. 2 minutes later the car re-appeared searched around again with full beam and fog lights on and then left. Our road has a small cutting at the end of it to a ditch and then into a dirt track and fields so no doubt who ever was escaping got away but I am really interested in what it could have been. I thought police, or even someone trying to escape paying taxi fares but the car wasn't a police car, or a taxi and had no signs of even being a unmarked police car.

Will get a google map of the area later to show you,

Any ideas would help,
Thanks

Svothe

Hi Svothe !!

Jeez quiet in here lately mate ....

Sorry bout the trouble "in your hood"...

Dunno if ya got your own countermeasures , but if you havent, have you thought about turning your webcam into a defacto surveillance tool?

heres something i posted on another forum that i been on since tis one went quiet..

http://www.p2s-prepared2survive.co.uk/s ... 111&page=4

"bargain basement stuff.......

connect a number of webcams to your pc and install this programme

http://dorgem.sourceforge.net/download.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and heres how to set it up....

http://www.simplehelp.net/2006/09/27...curity-camera/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It monitors the fiels of view and when the pixel level rises or otherwise alters , it records the details as an mpeg either to a dedicated hard drive or to a folder of your choice.....

It can also send a copy to your phone as stillshots or MMS....or upload to a website so you can view at your own leisure...cheap , and you can hide the cams anywhere you want.

this stuff never failed....

we painted it all over the suspected places of entry ...then when they pulled suspects ..they lit up like a christmas tree...not only that theyve got our UNIQUE code on them ...could not deny it. :twisted: :evil:

Thanks, sadly the street is mostly pitch black at nights. Will think about getting a webcam setup, does seem like quite a cool idea. Already have a few home defense counter measures should anyone get in such as 4 dogs lol very 'woofy' dogs and some decent semi-reinforced doors so I should be alright was just interested if anyone could work out what they were after or who they could've been.

Thanks,
Svothe

Someone pissed off the wrong person and had to make a quick escape?

There are cheap webcams that you can remove the IR filter from, you can then use an IR light rig to let it see in the dark but it doesn't make it look like you mounted a headlight to your house.
