Everybody seems to have done well.
My son got me a pair of packets of alfalfa seeds for sprouting.
The grandkinder chipped in and got me box of shells. They were pretty stoked about that.

THe best gift of course was that the entire family was able to get together this year.

Things were pretty skinny for us, we got good stuff for all the kids and old folks in the family, and asked that if anyone just couldn't help but get us something, that they just chip in for new tires on Mrs. Hotleads truck.

I did get Mrs. Hotlead two pairs of smartwool socks, and she got me two HKS .45 auto rim speedloaders for my S&W 625, she's the best :D

The best gift I got was that three different people asked me about prepping while the family was all at our house Christmas Eve. I brought them in and showed them some of our basics and we talked about how to get started, cost, storage options, etc. We also talked about going together to get them started and getting their storage areas squared away.
"your 9mm might expand when it hits the target, but my .45 sure as hell won't shrink"- Arguing with my Brother about pistol calibers.

"You can never have too many guns, yo-yos, or crayons"- Mrs. Hotlead speaking to my Nephew.

"If you don't let your farts out, you'll get bad breath"- Talking to my Neice at a campfire

Designer thoughts
"When I designed LJUSA hand-powered flashlight I wanted to give it a unique, fun look and a form that fits comfortably in a child's hand. I also thought about how children often forget to switch off the light when they use flashlights and parents have to change batteries all the time. The good thing about LJUSA is that it doesn't need batteries! It's easy for children to charge on their own by just winding the handle - and the energy is stored inside. What I like most about it is that it inspires children to think about where energy comes from - and how important it is we save it."

I scored pretty good this year.

My wife bought me (even though we aren't suppose to exchange gifts)
• a hatchet
• 5 gal collapsible water bladder
• some water proof matches and carry case.

My sister and brother in law
• The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead (in paper back)

My mom got me
• 100' 550 para cord
• a LED head lamp
• small tool kit

Lady at work got me
• 100' of rope (not 550 and not climbing but decent rope)
• hand crank flash light

and the big score was from my other sister and brother in law who got me.
• thigh rig mag holder (Blackhawk, and holds 2 AR mags and 2 pistol mags)
• a camping knife I wanted
• 3 PMAGs
• small Eaton FR160B Microlink Self-Powered emergency radio (has hand crank and solar panel and can easily be put in a BOB)
http://www.amazon.com/FR160B-Microlink- ... =pd_cp_e_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So all in all I think I did pretty good. Told my wife that I need to buy a pistol now that I have a way to carry the mags. She laughed and told me to wait till tax season... lol

Didn't get much prep stuff personally, but my grandson gave everyone things he picked out...
Rope, reflectors, bottles of wood glue, socks of different kinds, Sterno, flashlights for everyone (he loves flashlights), and especially for his Daddy - a can of cocoa.

The fiance and I decided not to get each other anything due to upcoming wedding costs, but did end up getting stuff for ourselves anyway. She bought an iPad, I bought a laptop (surf Zombie Squad on and store preparedness files and such). I also bought myself a Kershaw Tanto folder with assisted open. Also still planning on picking up 2 more mags for my .45 and another box of JHP's for it as a late Christmas present to myself.

Not much, but I did get a Cold Steel City Stick. Zombie bashing with style. Oh, and I did get Amazon gift cards. Every little bit helps.

Nice stuff posted one and all,

I bought myself with Xmas money the following:
mini maglite led in AA (the sos flash function is neat)
a AA powered lantern/flashlight energiser brand
a leatherman Squirt PS4 (after reading the thread recommending it)
and a pair of leather/fleece gloves from MEC

also a manual rivet gun and a set of ratcheting damaged bolt removers

The only thing I got that could from another person that could be considered a prep item would be the hobo tool. I don't have it in front of me but it is just your basic hobo tool by Columbia, I believe. It is at home and I haven't had a chance to really inspect it yet.

I also gifted myself four new factory magazines. Truth be told, they're not really for prepping. I wanted more magazines for a number of reasons but I suppose prepping could be considered one of them.

Nice silentwolf! You made out like a bandit! I've been looking at the Simmons spotting scope at Wally World for a beginner scope.

I'm up playing with my 12V/18Ah "Jumpstarter"/Powersupply. Picked it up at TSC a few weeks after I had looked at it, and it was marked down $10, so I got it for $25 after using my $25 gift card Santa got me. I can run my Grundig radio for ~20 hours in a power outage...of course I would only turn it on here and there for weather/SHTF updates, but with my inverter, I can also charge batteries for my flashlights/two-way radios, etc....so, yeah, I'm feeling a little bit more comfortable for the next power-outage inducing disaster/event.
