What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
In a spinoff of the 'Getting What You Need' thread that Will started a while back, I'd like to start another specifically for the personal experiences section.
The rules are very simple: List what you did to prepare for whatever emergency situation you feel might affect your AO.
I'll start:
Today I received a free sample of Z-Medica's new Quick Clot formula.
Tonight I'm reloading a bunch of empty magazines from the range, and sending off two defective pistol magazines for replacement.

Bought a case of water to keep in my trunk because I'm down to half a case. Someone keeps drinking them.
Also, went and picked up my CCW license. Nine times out of ten I'm in a place where carrying isn't an option (work, school, bar, etc) so I'll probably rarely carry but it's better to have and not need it then need it and not have it.

On Saturday I took a one-day Defensive Handgun class to brush up on my skills. Even as an instructor, supervised training is always good.
Today I received two 5 Gallon water cans from LC Enterprises and 3 USGI M-16 mags. As soon as I can figure out where we can store the loaded cans, I'll fill 'em up.
I also received my wife's Ultimak mount and Aimpoint scope for her M-1 Carbine. I'll sight that in, along with my Daewoo and Eotech, tommorrow.
Next Sunday my wife and I are taking a Defensive Rifle class.

I don't know what effect these men will have upon the enemy, but, by God, they terrify me.

I got a free sample of Quick Clot 1st Response in the mail today, too! I didn't get a case though. Just one sample packet from Z-Medica. Who wants to let me try it on them? I only have one sample so it'll have to be a small wound.Miami wrote:Purchased another two hundred rounds of UMC .223 Remington 55Gr FMJ. Also purchased another case of 24 half liter bottled water. <edit> I just re-read Gunny's original post. Looks like everyone's sample(s) came in today.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
Fantastic post, Gunny!
Today I went for a 13 mile hike around the outskirts of my small, redneck town. Learned lots of new ins and outs between the 'real' roads, and I saw four Canada geese and one male and one female mallard. I took my newly made BOB (the one in my sig) and did yet another shakedown on it.
