Canadian suppliers of 'insert item here'

Post by kwailo » Wed Feb 06, 2013 10:50 am

I don't order from the US if there is a reasonable alternative in Canada. Too many vendors in the States us UPS, and I dislike greatly getting an additional charge when the product arrives.

I looked for a thread about Canadian suppliers, but couldn't find one. I'd like to use ones that come recommended.

I have ordered from http://www.camouflage.ca/, and used to go there often when I lived in Vancouver.

On my laptop I have google Chrome.
On Google Chrome I have a bookmark folder.
In that bookmark folder I have bookmarked every Canadian retailer of things firearm related.
I also have folder inception with Ontario retailers.

I've made it my purpose to buy from a local ma'&pa shop first. If they can't get what I want, I'll look at local box stores, starting with Canadian chains. If they can't, I look at out of province ma'&pa' shops or local US chains. I do my best to keep my money local, but some things are just hard to come by or the local store just orders it from brownells and adds their fees ontop of that.

For example, I'm looking for a Canadian supplier of a Vltor receiver extension (the one designed for shotgun stock adapters with the storage compartment). I can buy it in Canada for $70, or buy it stateside for 45, plus shipping to a US address, and drive down to pick it up.

I've bought a bunch from http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/ and http://www.fenixtactical.com/ and it's worked out fine.
If you feel like driving up to Waterloo, Adventure Guide is a decent place to wander around, especially since they moved to their much bigger and brighter location on Ira Needles. I've compared prices there with MEC and a few other places - I used to think they were overpriced - and they seem pretty much in line.

I buy from a couple of US knife shops too; good prices and reasonable shipping via USPS, so no nasty UPS 'brokerage' fee. You asked about CAN suppliers, so I'll leave it there, but PM me if you want their names (you may know already).

Cheers

I have bought a few knives, as well as Fenix flashlights at http://http://www.srknives.com/home.html There is a storefront at the Woodbine Center.

I am looking for a good first aid material suppler locally. My wife is a part time first aid instructor with the Red Cross, so some things I get through them. Some are just poor quality though.

This is a Canadian company that has a bunch of interesting stuff.

Two others:

Another thread/addition to this thread might be - US retailers that don't use UPS or FedEx. I refuse to deal with any US vendors that won't ship via USPS.

One that I have to give props to - and who carry good medical stuff - is Supply Captain.

Canadian Outdoors Equipment has top notch stuff. In fact, the super high quality of their equipment was probably the downfall of their Toronto retail location. They were located across from MEC and down the road from Europe Bound, both having larger selection and cheaper gear, COE was of no competition given their full retail prices of top of the line gear.

No, you're thinking of another place. Cant think of the name right now......Olympic I'm tempted to say. They were affiliated with Central Surplus on Yonge Street.
