Sandy is expected to really impact the area tonight around dusk. From there, the winds are supposed to pick up and hit speeds of nearly 60 MPH. The area will be looking at nearly 4" of rain. Predictions are also calling for extended power outages for the area as well. In the mountains of WVA and Maryland, they are calling for 1 to 2 feet of snow.

The important part to remember is that this is more than a regular summer thunderstorm that will blow over in an hour. This is going to last for a long time.

I am feeling pretty good about my preps. Got most of my needs knocked out this weekend. Batteries are gone off the shelves in the area.

Rain, rain, rain here in Westmoreland county. Basement hasn't flooded yet, but I got everything up off the floor as much as possible just in case.

How'd everyone in the area hold up? I know my area didn't seem to have any problems other than it being cold and wet outside. Hope no one had any major damage!

The post-mortem is that the front that moved in the Saturday before was able to take some of the energy out of the system, but it still pounded the mountains in WVA and MD. They are still recovering.
