Wintergheddon 2013 (18-20 January)

Post by crypto » Thu Jan 03, 2013 7:57 pm

Well, as we've talked about at previous meetings, its that time of year where the few, the proud, and the dumb suffer in the out-of-doors for 3 days in the cold. Wintergheddon is upon us again.

As per previous years, Wintergheddon will be on MLK weekend, leaving friday morning, and returning Sunday morning. We're repeating the previous location, for those of you who have been there before. It's about 90 minutes of driving each way, and we'll certainly caravan together to get there.

For those of you who /haven't/ been before, please understand that you need to know what you're doing at this time of year, and have solid gear, or you might die. As most of you know, We've had both honest-to-god accidents that have put people in the hospital for weeks, who ended up with Erector sets implanted in their bodies, and we've had people who made poor choices come close to death and lose parts of their body entirely. Nature doesn't fuck around at this time of year. It hates you and wants to kill you.

If you are interested in going to Wintergheddon with 001, please email me with "Wintergheddon 2013" in the subject line, and I'll add you to a list to distribute specifics to.

I figure that's fair, considering all the time he spent in your holes last year, but please don't tell me how that works out...

If that is the case, I think I'll head out saturday morning then. I could use the scratch otherwise earned on friday.

Is anyone else gonna show around 5:30-6PMish on fri? I don't really want to make that hike in the dark all alone...

I might be showing around then. In fact, I could probably use a lift, as I might not have a vehicle yet.

Where you at friend? I will probably arrive closer to 6, maybe later if I drive you, but I'm fine with that.

I'll either be at work, which is in Valley Park near 270 and Big Bend, or at home, which is near the zoo. I can probably play it either way, depending on what works best for you.

Just a heads up. . . but not being prepared can kill you. Not checking the weather. . . can kill you. Some hikers here in Missouri just recently learned the hard and sad way:
