For the record I can't tell you how much I love Dave M's thread, "The Bachelor Chef." That particular thread has served as inspiration more than once. I am a bachelor & I like to cook. Mostly I pretend I can sticking with semi-homemade & The Bachelor Chef TTPs. Anyhoo I wanted to post up some of my dishes that worked or at least turned out. Just don't ask for measurments, I'm not real big on those.

First up is a Outdoor fire roasted golden mallow. (Dishes may or may not get more difficult as it goes.)

Truely "Bachelor Chef" inspired! I was having people over for some dinner, drinks & to hang out on the deck. Decided on a little General Tso's Chicken Bachelor Style. I found a General Tso's Sauce at the store that I really liked. (I'll update, the name escapes me.) Went to Wendys, I called ahead, and picked up 120 of their Spicey Chicken Nuggets. (They were on sale.) I brought them home threw them in the wok with the sauce. Coated them thuroughly until they started to carmelize. With some scallions & roasted sesame seeds the nuggets were served over 3 bags of Uncle Bens 90 second instant Jasmine Rice. Normally I side it with edemame with coarse sea salt.

The people were crazy bout it! They couldn't believe I could cook so well!

I've made it more than once thats fo sho!

A Steeler football game watching favorite! My take on nachos, "Potato Nacho Boat."

Start off with a thick layer of Orida Grillers Potatos. These are grilled with butter and plenty of crumbled Bacon!

Image

Next is a heaping layer lean ground beef with taco seasoning.

Image

Next layer is whatever salsa or picante you prefer.

Image

Next layer, CHEESE! I like to use finely shredded blends for easy quik melting gooeyness goodness.

Image

Finally a couple dullops of sour cream or plain greek yogurt

Image

BOOM! The Potato Nacho Boat! Definitly meant to be eatin' with a fork, not your fingers!

Last update tonight, a fruit parfait. All fresh, pineapple, red & green seedless grapes, raspberries, blackberries & strawberries layered with vanilla flavored greek yogurt.

A "little" healthier.....maybe.

Baby spinach, red & yellow peppers with panchetta poured over whole wheat pasta sprinkled with a lil' garlic infused EVOO.

Mags, this is like a classier version of TBC. I will be watching it closely, and I'm already thinking of your Tso's Chicken made with chicken sausage instead of nuggets.

You may begin to see a theme, cardiac arrest & Bacon!

Breakfast of champions! "The Triple Pork Death." Starts with an almost instant Grands buttery buscuit. Next layer is thick cut Canadian Bacon, topped with thick cut peppered slab Bacon, all smothered in thick country gravy with pork sausage crumbles. A little fresh cracked pepper on top. Yummo! It'll keep you cuttin' wood all day. LoL

Sea scallops wrapped in Bacon with spaghetti marinara. Thin whole wheat spaghetti with jarred sauce. Little cheese on top. Scallops & Bacon were done in a skillet, sauce simmered prior to spooning it on. Dinner on the deck. One of my favorite summer things.

San Pelligrino, baby! That shit is a necessity at the table for any good food. Thirst quencher and palate cleanser. Mixes well with wines, spirits, liquers, fruit juice... I always have some ready to go.

Your culinary work ethic is deplorable but your ingenuity is most commendable, applause worthy even.

"Systeme D" wins the day. Again.

In my line of work, I face this dilemma daily. You can spend time and labor to make something delicious from humble ingredients, you can spend money and time to get really awesome delicacies and present them perfectly, or you can hire somebody else do it and usurp the credit. Looks like you've figured out the cook hard/cook smart/outsource paradigm all on your own. :D

Thanks fella's. Like I said most of this is packaged or premade. A chef I am not!

Vaccum packed Tony Romas' Ribs, (fully cooked,) from Wal Mart. I threw everything at these! Some more sauce then Dillo Dust etc etc damn near everything in my cupboard as a caked on dry rub. I broke the rack in half, wrapped the halves in foil then threw'em on the grill. They were on there with low heat for about 2.5-3 hours while I cut the grass, edged etc etc. They turned out pretty awesome! Girlfriend thought I got a new smoker! LoL

Almost no time, easy prepping, and walk away cooking. WIN

I shocked my extended family at a cookout with this one.

I lightly crumbled up some graham crackers and threw them into paper bowls. Then on top I added two smaller scoops of vanilla bean ice cream. Finally without telling anybody I spooned warm, (microwaved it,) T-Ration Apple Dessert over the ice cream. A dash of powdered cinnamon and done! Prepper gourmet! LoL

They loved the "apple pie ala mode" desserts. At least up till I told them exactly what the ingredients were!

Medium rare seasoned steaks with crumble topped lobster mac-n-cheese! YUMMO!!!

A meat & cheese store in my area sells these incredible vaccum packed steaks. They call them Preachers Pride. The story goes when you'd have the preacher over for dinner he'd be given the best cut of meat. There is no trimming needed. These are about my most favorite steaks anywhere. One of my beautiful successful sisters got me the fancy-schmancy lobster mac-n-cheese from one of Oprah's lists. It was delivered in a styrofoam cooler on dry ice.

I seasoned the steaks to taste and threw'em on the grill. While the mac-n-cheese got baked in the oven. Very simple dang tastey meal!

Ok, here we go..... This "hooch" has a very complex taste. :ooh: Like a Boone's Farm or MD 20/20! It has a "grapeish" taste on the front with a crazy chocolate flavor back to it. Oh, it's $8 a bottle. Supposedly it's got a depression era background according to the label. Mixed with Coca-Cola on ice it's different thats for sure.

Soy & Sesame Salmon,Tequila Marinated Pineapple Shrimp & Seasoned Honey Drizzled Asparagus! BOOM that shit sounds good!!! Mostly frozen pre-packaged food I added to & marinated quickly. Easy prep and cook, a bachelors dream. People loved it! Again thinking I can really cook. LoL :D

Frozen salmon fillets were vaccum packed with Soy Sauce & cracked pepper for 1/2hr then coated with roasted sesame seeds. Thrown on grill cooked to temp.

I normally have cilantro for the shrimp but not this time. The frozen shrimp were of the tail on, cooked, peeled & devined variety. I thawed them then marinated them via vaccum bag with Tequila, lime juice, & a dusting of Old Bay seasoning. They went on water soaked bamboo skewers with fresh cut pineapple chunks. Putting them on skewers made it easier to flip them all on the grill. :D

Lastly was the asparagus that came in a jar pre-seasoned with a peppered/pickle type taste. I cut that by drizzleing honey on the asparagus while grilling.

On the grill...
