There is a TEDx conference in St. Louis this month and Zombie Squad was asked to come tell our story.

<edit>

The topic is about Zombie Squad and how we used the zombie metaphor as a way to raise awareness about disaster preparation.

Congrats Kyle and ZS. Will there be any way for people unable to attend in person to see the presentations?

My speech is painfully awkward but at least it's over.

Yeah, public speaking is a bitch. My students hated me when I taught it. :D

But good job! Well done. I may just have my wife watch your talk in hopes that she'll hate this site a little less (I've tried to explain the concept to her, but she isn't playing ball...yet).

Great video. Any chance this will show up somewhere with just our segment? Maybe the ZS YouTube channel?

Very nice, could tell your not keen on public speaking but you did very well. Believe me I would have been much worse than that, the message was not compromised by your nervousness. :clap:

Excellent work, Kyle. You seemed relaxed and poised, and your talk was funny and informative. A fine job.

:clap: :clap: Am so proud of you, your message, and what you do!

What I've learned & given here has turned my being prepared for emergencies [ice storms, broken water main, no electricity, tornado hit, flood, flu in the community, out of work, blizzards, drought, hurricanes, solar emps, truckers on strike, and so on] to reality and personal action for self and in my community. (Though like you said 'the community' part is challenging.)

Thank god for your enjoyment of Zombie movies!

:clap: :clap: :clap:

Love the mass hysteria line!

I teach at an "alternative" high school program, and after I attended a zombie workshop this summer my colleagues and I decided to start our year with a cross-curricular zombie month. (I think the presenter of the workshop has a ZSC come present to his class - does that sound familiar to anyone around here?)

It was awesome to see our kids learning math, science, English, and social studies using a zombie theme. Who would have thought that the zombie apocalypse would make geography interesting? (Ok, slightly less boring :wink: )

Now that you mention this a couple of years ago my neighbors (they are kids) talked about their school doing some kind of teaching using zombies too. It may have been preparedness, don't really remember. But I 'do' remember it was zombie and at their school!

It's actually pretty amazing the number of things you could teach with the zombie theme woven thru... maybe I'll start a thread :idea:
