Please Donate to Assist US Midwest Flood Victims!

In June, river levees throughout the Midwest were breeched due to heavy precipitation which has caused severe flooding in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The impact of the damages are still coming in as the flooding continues to destroy communities. To make matters worse, most of these floods came only a few days after a series of tornadoes tore through some of these same areas, including some Mid-Atlantic States. Our national disaster response charities are tapped out due the overwhelming need for relief aid. Some charities, such as the Red Cross are reporting that they are now seeking loans to support its network of experienced workers and volunteers, due to their funds being depleted. The need your help more than ever.

Please donate whatever you can:
Donate to American Red Cross
Donate to Direct Relief International

Whoever you decide to give your money to, be sure to investigate them before you give.

If you are in the area or willing to travel, volunteers are always needed:
Volunteer for AmeriCorps
Volunteer with the Red Cross Disaster Services

This isn't a ZS fundraiser; just a plea to help those in need.

Yeah, we kinda blew our budget already so we won't be giving out stuff to donors for this one. The paypal fees for $5800, cost dog tags for 100 people ($3.75 each), and shipping of dog tags adds up fast. Thanks to everyone who buys our t-shirts and keep their $15.00 a year membership current, we can afford drives like that once a year.

For the flood victims in the U.S. Midwest, you guys will just have to give out of kindness like everyone else. :)

If you're in the St. Louis area (or willing to drive here) there is a call out for volunteers to help run a shelter for flood victims. If anyone is free, please contact Donna Null at dnull@redcrossstl.org or 314-226-8813. No experience necessary.

I'm sure there are volunteers needs all over the midwest flood areas. Call your local chapter. If there isn't an ARC or AmeriCorps center near you, I'm betting you can call your local government to point you to whatever disaster response agency or church is helping victims in your area.

Buy stuff and donate money? Ok, you don't have to twist my arm! :D

I'll do a blog about it later tonight to spread the word!

Please be sure to give guys. From everything I've heard, the Red Cross's midwest disaster funds are nearly empty.

Another bump/rehighlight.

Please donate what you can, these agencies are really tapped out for their disaster funds.
