Whats Folding@Home, you ask?

Its one of those "use your unused computer power for something good" things. You r unused clock cycles will be used to study protien folding in such a way that may unlock the secrets to Alzheimers, Parkinsins, maybe even zombification. Check it out here:

http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/

If you decide to do it, I started a Zombie Squad team. The team number is 36842

Here's our team page:
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main ... mnum=36842

It hasn't gotten any action since like last october.

Looks like fun. It'll make me feel better, I hate it when I have to work (studying or whatever), and my computer just sits there doing nothing and looking smug.

Still running Seti@home on the computers here.

Been running it since '99, 1674 work units, and 40,281 hours of computer time... probably time for a change.

pwn3d. I stopped because it was unnecessarily overheating my computer. I should take some canned air to my lappy.

After some thinking about this i kind of have to ask, not to knock the idea or it's cause but just out of curiosity, when does it end? How long does it take if there are all of these computers working, how long will it take?

Finaly got one of the little bugger's folded. Took damn near two weeks! The new WU they gave me is much smaller, so it shouldn't take near as long to do.

My computer would probably suffer a fatal stroke if I tried something like this...

bummer.

For years, I've known about seti@home and have avoided.
I don't like the idea of others accessing my computer.

But now I'm more lax (and more stupid?) so I'll give this a shot.

Ok, so how do I know if it's working?

Installed just now.

And fear me - my X1900XTX video card can do work units on its own. I see rising up really quickly. And helping ZS's charity status quite a bit too!
