Super Typhoon Haiyan Relief Drive
On November 7th, 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippine Islands. With sustained winds of 167mph, this was a category 5 equivalent storm and the largest storm to ever hit the island nation. Over 5,000 casualties have been reported. Some cities are 90% destroyed. Relief efforts have been hampered due to damage to ports and infrastructure.
Recovery for the Philippines and its residents will take a lot of time, money, and resources. But they won't have to do it alone.
Every Zombie Squad member knows that being prepared for a disaster - zombie apocalypse or otherwise - is just the first step when it comes to safety and survival. Being able to band together, rebuild communities, and provide assistance after the worst has happened is just as essential as any bug out bag in your closet or car. That's why Zombie Squad is proud to announce that we'll be continuing our long history of fundraising efforts by helping bring relief to the people of the Philippines.
Starting December 3rd, ZS will be collecting monetary donations for the Philippine Red Cross. With roots that go back to before Philippine independence, the Philippine Red Cross has been providing blood services, disaster management services, community health services, and disaster relief to the island nation for over 65 years.
Please note that 100% of your donation will be sent to the Philippine Red Cross, which is currently hauling away debris, providing medical supplies and services, and tetanus vaccinations to the affected. Zombie Squad will be covering any and all administration costs associated with your donation, including fees, postage, and the cool stuff we send you. So, every cent of your donation will go where it's needed.
If you'd rather donate directly, or to another charity, that's great! Helping out in your own way is just as awesome as doing it through Zombie Squad. If you do choose to make a donation during this fund drive though, we'll thank you in a few ways:
* The first 100 people who donate $25 or more get a limited edition ZS/Haiyan Relief dog tag to show how awesome they are.
* Members of our forums will get a special drive-related banner under your avatar, further demonstrating your awesomeness.
* Zombie Squad International is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization so your donation may be tax deductible! You should probably consult your tax advisor. Awesome?

Two things;
1: Great cause for a drive!
2: The ZS webshop keep changing my address, so that I end up with "US" as the country, thus PayPal doesn't see it as valid, and I can't donate...

Donated. Sadly not a ton as with the holiday season I've been donating a lot and money is starting to get tight, but happy to help even if only a little!

Thank you, ZS. This is such an urgent need and the Philippine Red Cross is an outstanding choice to receive the funds.
I hope fellow ZS'ers consider donating to this incredibly worthy cause.

Re: Super Typhoon Haiyan Relief Drive
This thread reminded me that I wanted to donate a small sum. I totally forgot about it. Thank you.
The technical problems international users seem to be experiencing at the moment led me to donating via the German Red Cross relief fund, though. The donation will still get there, so you guys have already done a good deed without actually seeing my money.
I appreciate your work, rock on!
Thank you for your time,
TODP.

Re: Super Typhoon Haiyan Relief Drive
Greetings fellow ZSer's, I have been gone for awhile (very bad year for me), but I would like to thank everyone for their donations to the Haiyan Relief, my wife is from the Philippines (just south of where the Super Typhoon made landfall, what many may not know, is that the southern section of the main island of the Philippines was just recently (like 3 weeks prior to the Typhoon) invaded/ attacked by a very large extremist group bent on securing a port city, so this Typhoon rode in on the heel of a very nasty episode in this island history.
Once again, thank you all.

Do you mean the ones from Oklahoma in June? If so, we raised and donated quite a bit for that one.ArmorPlate wrote:Is there a thread around here to help the Tornado victims from the midwest from a few months ago.

When does the drive end? My funds are currently tied up into paying off college loans this paycheck, but i'd like to donate later on.

In. Money is very, very tight here right now, but OTOH, I'm pretty sure my quality of life right now is at least an order of magnitude better than the quality of life of those hit hardest by this disaster, so I give what I can and wish it were more.
