Chinese Military's SUV Claimed Toughest on Planet

The People’s Liberation Army rates its Chinese military BJ80 SUV the “most reliable off-road vehicle in the world” after the boxy four-wheel drive model achieved test scores that were seven times higher than those of the Mercedes-Benz SUV on which it was reportedly modelled, according to an official document seen by the South China Morning Post.

“It is an incredibly high score considering the ordeals it had to go through,” said Song Kai, an associate researcher specialising in automobile structural fatigue at the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering at Hunan University in central China.

If anyone is interested, I'm selling a bridge... As we're pals, you will get the best price!
I am not a 'gray man'. I am a brown man, coyote brown. With FDE highlights, of course.

I’m looking at it and it looks more like some teenager saw a car and said “Oh! Let’s add hard angles and call it tactical!”

It honestly just looks like some shitty concept car that some suburban soccer mom bought to impress that neighbor bitch Patty, across the street.

Let’s see it take an IED hit.

They would never tell fake story. China SUV is better than lithium power pack battery on Amazon.

If they really wanted to test it, just run it as a taxi in NYC for a year.

They want to know how tough it is, not how tough to steal the tires it is.

If their benchmark is the Mercedes G-wagon it’s not really much of a fantastic feat to be more reliable. They were huge money pits years ago and I doubt they’ve gotten much better.

The approach, departure, and break-over angles on that bad boy suck!

I also highly doubt there is much room for suspension travel.

I don't doubt that a team of engineers can design a car to pass specific criteria, knowing the criteria... no matter what country they are from. I just don't see this as being an awesome SUV yet.

Compared to what? Compared to a bone stock Wrangler they look comparable to me.

You really think the suspension travel is that poor? I'm seeing big empty areas up in those fenders, and while these are no rock crawlers I think there's a good bit of room there for travel.

I dunno, maybe the most base model 4 door Wrangler.

Looks a lot more like a cross over when you look up profile shots. The bone stock G-wagon version is slightly better. Even with the wheels tucking up in, it looks like a Toyota Highlander to me.

Besides, a Rubicon would be the base as a good military vehicle for me. And for a big combat runner, those Oshkosh trucks are badass

I'm looking at it and comparing it to my Grand Cherokee, which is no slouch off-road, and I'm thinking this may have slightly better approach angle but I think I'd beat it in departure angle, break-over and ground clearance.

Honestly none of us have actually seen one. So all we are doing is circle jerking our hate for Chinese made stuff.

This may very well be an absolute beast come military transport. But tell me..... do you think it’ll take a direct IED blast like a buffalo? Doubtful. It’ll be like Iraq 2003 where we have non uparmored vehicles getting taken out by little more than over sized grenades.

Let’s face it, China is a world super power, not far behind us. The only difference is they use economic power to gain support. However don’t you fret, the minute they feel threatened, they will send military force.

This is when vehicles like this will be truly tested. Will they stand up to subsaharan Africa? (Because the Chinese are smart enough to avoid war in Middle East), they are heavily divested in aferica Africa, bet they won’t supoort their monitory support?. But will these hold up for months on end running over dunes and rock? I dunno. We’ll see, because don’t you worry. It’ll happen

I'm not sure avoiding war in the ME to fight in Sub-Sahara Africa is smart. :?
