I built a modified Steven Harris style mobile battery bank. Check out my video and let me know what you think.

I like it, my only concern would be salt spray on the batteries during the winter. I really liked the use of space under the back seat!

My original design had injection molded plastic battery cases, but they were a pain when topping off water. Instead I just got some marine grade terminal boots. Since the outside of the battery is plastic the terminals are the only thing that need protection.

I like it.

Have you thought of adding some solar panels on top of your camper shell, or would that blow the stealth look you are going for?

Have you upgraded the alternator? What is the Steven Harris name signify, is that who designed those mounts for the old gm CUCV's?

The alternator does not need to be upgraded, because batteries must be charged slowly with a smart 3 phase charge controller to prevent damage to the battery. A stock alternator usually puts out more power and delivers it faster than a battery can consume it.

Steven Harris is an Alternative Energy Expert, made famous from thesurvivalpodast.com. He designed a popular truck box battery bank. I just modified his design for chassis mounted batteries instead of using a truck box.
