Shameless Product Pimping

Post by Jorian » Fri Feb 18, 2011 6:54 pm

...not really - it's not like this is profit center for us. At least not yet. (but YOU can help! :D )

This has been brewing for a while now. Was hung up in a minor patent battle but now in production. And I gotta say, it works REALLY well.

Carabiner Shears

The carabiner is integral to the handle, and you can barely feel it at all during normal use of the shears. It's extremely easy to clip to a belt loop - no look, one hand operation. A few seconds of practice and it's almost second nature to clip them to a belt loop. Or it clips to anything else that you want it to - the gate opens pretty wide. Of course if you're in a vertical rescue situation and you drop them, you might wish you had that NAR scissors leash instead! But other than that, this is one of those things that looks like (and actually is) a gimmick, but unlike so many gimmicks it serves a purpose and does so very well IMHO.

ETA:
Way mo betta than this POS that sells for $45 (yes, that's four, five): Image

Normally, I'd just shake my head and move on, but this is actually a good idea- I may be sending you some money, methinks...

Are those carabiners made of plastic? What sort of spring is used?

Reminds me of those carabiner- pens that fail almost right away. But I haven't seen those shears in person, so who knows.

They haven't failed yet, but for about 9 months I've had a prototype, not a production model. Production ones feel very much the same but I wouldn't blame anyone who wants to wait for failure reports. Of course if you get them from us and they fail we'll replace/refund/whatever.

The spring doesn't feel suspect, - I don't know how the gate would handle lateral impact while open. When closed, the little notch fits fairly snug and feels good and solid.

The "UNDEAD" code is still active.

Thanks for the Guinness!

To whom it may concern, an international flat rate box will hold up to about 9 pairs, and costs $14 to ship. Then there are bigger flat rate boxes - the $45 one would probably hole 60 pr.
