Well, I was going to try and post a proper FAK thread but due to a family medical emergency it'll have to wait. (Yes I get the irony!) So for now just a tease. A lousy picture of my partial medical library. A couple of books and manuals that I have found very useful.

Image

'bout my medical training/background. Well I'd call it, "advanced beginner." It's always been an interest of mine. I never wanted one of my guys to die because I didn't know or act. The most advanced I get is, IV's (no meds just LR, NS, or Hextend.) needle decompressions, nasopharyngeal airway, oral airways. Most of my "real world" experience occurred on the battlefield, but I'm pretty good with skinned knees as well. Always taught that all of the new whiz-bang stuff is just fluff. Learn the basics of first aid and how to apply them no matter what the environment!

I work in a State Prison and as far as I know we only have one "trauma nurse" on staff. Another reason to learn all that I can.

Military;
Basic/Advanced First Aid
Combat Life Saver Course, (Several Re-Certs)
Additional Follow-ups with 18D Medics (I learned more from these guys a couple hours at a time than in my entire career! They are teachers by trade. Seek them out. Very few would not be willing to help out a motivated troop looking to learn!)

Civilian; (Annual Re-Certs)
Red Cross:
First Aid
Adult/Child/Infant CPR
AED

American Safety & Health Institute:
First Aid
Adult/Child/Infant CPR
AED

(Probably left things out but they were not 8 years of medical school! )

UPDATE! Shots of various kits.

Image

My Trunk Kit (Forgot to take the SAM Splint out of the side pocket for the pic.) This kit sets in my trunk full time. A little bit of everything in it. Boo boo, trauma, survival, etc. Everything in the kit is waterproofed. Keeping in the trunk I just have to stay on top of exp. dates. Also in the process of replacing the purple and green gloves with non-latex black ones. Might try the OD version. They claim it's easier to see blood on them. Used to doing it by feel but having a visual reference is always nice.

TT First Responder Bag (My CLS/Squad Bag.) The bag/setup has seen some action. It has been faithfully thrown in trucks, carried on dismounted ops, and stashed in hide sites. This is my go to trauma bag. It's great to work out of and can even be mounted to my old RAID Pack.

Can't leave out the predictable STOMP II Pack (I so hate BHI) This pristine closet queen has never seen the field. It's more of a home station kinda set up. If I had to exfil I'd deffinetly grab it otherwise she sets in the closet.

I got shit everywhere! Please feel free to pick them apart. If somethings not seen it maybe there or shoved in a box in a closet. I will try and break some of this down more when I get the time.

I believe you just have to upload it elsewhere and link to it. Or print it to jpg and post those.

LOL!

Good show man. Looks like the only thing you're missing is a Batmobile.

Then again, you probably have one in the closet tbh.

very amazing STOMP kit. Perhaps a little over the top, but then again on par for this site as in case things happen.
If you don't mind me asking.....
Why so many oral airways?
Where'd you score the load of needles?
Finally, what is in your Adventure Med Kits?

The STOMP II is over the top. I swear I have never ever seen one that was not packed to the gills or even overpacked. Whether it be civilian or military.

So many Oral Airways, Too many elastic loops :D ............... The Oral and Nasopharyngeal Airways are the limits of my training and experience. No Laryngoscopes here.

Needles from my CLS Bags.

AMK lists the contents for each of their kits on their website.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment!

Fixed that for you.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is the reason for anyone to carry an Epipen, right?

I mean, I have never heard of anyone using an Epipen as a normal, everyday course of medication. Have you?

Epi 1:10,000? Seems like 1:1000 would be more useful if you're going to carry just one.

dtom don’t put words in my mouth

yea except that’s the wrong concentration and the wrong route for anaphylaxis, that’s 1 mg in 10 mls of 1:10,000 concentration which is the correct dose for asthma

epi pens are .3mg of 1:1000 concentration epi jr pens are .15 mg of 1:1000

mags, I thing an epi pen would be easier for you rather than starting an iv then pushing the bristo jet of epi (yes I know I contradicted my self on the route of administration) but with life or death an epi pen would be better and more efficient.
