Where to Buy Medical Products: The Definitive Thread

Post by Gunny » Sat Jul 05, 2008 3:25 am

This thread is your end all be all of purchasing medical supplies.

No longer will you have to post, "OMG Where Can I buy Kerlix?!?" I've got your Kerlix right here.

This thread will focus on several important items for any FAK including the actual bags themselves. I'll update it as I get new suggestions or more time.

Here's another site that has PriMed gauze for a $1.50 http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/cat ... ts_id=2135" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They also have Celox for 15 dollars and Brigade Quartermasters has Celox for like 20 bucks and the US Cav CAT tourniquets bar are made of plastic, not metal.

Thanks, but:

TRG's Primed Gauze
Tactical Response Gear does have Primed for $1.50, but I've posted 2 links that beat that price, one from a company which supports ZS.

Brigade Quartermasters Celox
$15 sure, but for 15g bags of Celox, not the 35g bags I used for the post above.

Tactical Response Gear Celox
Same story with Tactical Response Gear, $16 for 15g, but $25 for 35g.

USCAV CAT Tourniquet
US Cav's tourniquet is made of plastic (like all modern CAT Tourniquets are) and costs $39.99

What about masks and respirators? Know a good resource on N95 and N100 masks? Preferably the 3M 8211 (N95) and 3M 8233 (N100)?

Thanks in advance, guru's of first aid.

Good finds on the sheers and the krinkle. I'm not going to add the Asherman because it's a $0.05 difference from 2 suppliers and seems pointless.
Added a new section for krinkle gauze and updated the sheers list.

I'm reluctant to add any dental kit to the list simply because it gets so damn specialized and almost no one carries it.
Probably the best place to get dental kit aside from instruments and specialty items would be your local pharmacy.

If you plan on visiting your dentist anytime soon, simply let them know what you're up to and they will likely send you home with a handfull for free.

A few months ago I had a routine cleaning and explained to my dentist what I was looking for, and he gave me two of those large rolls of cotton (50 pieces each) as well as a bunch of 0.5g samples of Colgate Orabase, 20% Benzocaine (a topical anesthestic used prior to oral injections, for severe canker sores, or actually any abrasion/laceration).

It is probably easier in my case anyway because I know the owner a of a dental practice (Do IT consulting work for his office) and he is into preparedness. I should just ask him for a few things, I am sure he would give them to me. I will ask him about the benzocaine and colgate orabase as well.

Thanks Gunny and Paragon.

Umm off topic but macing yourself in the nuts would not yield pain. You would need an open wound or cavity for the mace to be effective.

Would this "Kerlix" help with mace burns? What brand of "Kerlix" should I use? Scott? Puffs? Angel Soft?
