http://www.txtmob.com

Would make for a quick heads up for outbreak or shtf.

ARf.com has one going and it works.

not a bad idea.

There is a ZS account here https://www.txtmob.com/group_info.php?listID=1532

But it might be better for us to just host our own:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/txtmob/

I'll look into it if anyone is interested.

An excellent idea! I'd hate for there to be an outbreak while I'm at work and not know about it until I got home (or tried to get home)

I'm having trouble with txmob with sprintpcs. Seems the nextel/Sprint merge s causing problems.

Anyone able to get txtmob account to work?

Try this:
http://zombiehunters.org/txtmob/

Let me know if it works for you.

For some reason it's not sending my phone the auth code, if it does I'll reply later.

Can you get txtmob's software to work on teir site? Maybe it's a problem with the way I have it set up. Try the original one as well: www.txtmob.com

Neither work for me so it's hard to test it.

Its not working for verizon wireless as well. I am NOT getting the auth code. I tried verizon pager just sof shits and giggles and that to did not work. I guess there is just a problem with the site. We should host this at ZS!

If not, i can host it on my server :P

EDIT Kyle, its not the way you set it up, the auth codes are not working atm. I have not gotten my code (via a text) to set up the phone, therefore i can't get to the next step to join the group. Hence, it’s nothing you did wrong.

Please do. Host away if you can get it to work. It's probably best to not have all our eggs in one basket.. er... server anyway.

I can intergrate it in with the main site once you get it working. Drop me an e-mail if you have any questions.

If txtmob is busted I'm sure there are other open source mass SMS apps out there.

Thanks, man. I love it when people take initiative. :)
