On the air from Djibouti

Post by KYZHunters » Mon Dec 05, 2016 11:19 am

Today I received my license from the government of Djibouti, call sign J20MG. I intend to operate 80-6 meters from now until the end of the year so if there is anyone who wants to attempt a sked let me know. We are 8 hours ahead of the east coast so when I get home from work it is about 9 AM on the east coast.

The process was not too bad; a French ham put me in contact with an English speaking Telecommunications Ministry official who was a great email correspondent and handled all the paper work. He even delivered my license to my house yesterday evening bringing his wife and son along. The FCC probably won't do that for you.

I operated as HL9MC from Korea years back and it was fun being DX. I look forward to being on the other end once again, if only for a short time.
