I'm excited to be there. I'm new to this whole thing so I'm excited to learn from you all. Although I'll probably be the youngest one there..

Also, how much time do we spend at the range? I've got 1000+ rounds for my mosin and I'm wondering how much to bring.

We are glad to have you join us.

I would bring a couple hundred rounds.

Range time just depends on, weather, how many people other are up there, etc. Normally we get up there around 9-10 and stay until 3 or so. Some get up there earlier and leave earlier. If you want to stay later you won't be by yourself !

So a bit of an update. My wife and I have to attend a series of training classes.... Of course we got the information a few days ago and we have to go three Saturdays in March, one of which is range day. We will be there Friday evening, traveling lightweight backpacking gear, pack up Saturday morning then come back Saturday evening after the training.

I'm bummed that I can't hit the range but at least this will change things up a bit. This year I'm leaving the kitchen table and sink at home since we are packing and unpacking. Also having an extra setup is good practice for the newer gear. We have been putting together backpacks to hike and camp with- if the weather holds up we will be out camping on the AT this weekend.

I am totally down for this. I am 90% sure I can come, it just depends on whether or not I have a test the following Monday or Tuesday. I will try to find this out soon. I'm going to PM you with a few questions. Thanks!

Now I just have to convince my girlfriend to come. Shes got a Prius and I can save some gas money and introduce her to larger calibers.
(She has only shot .22s)

I know there's no water during the winter but is it a primitive site or are there toilets/showers?

Just did an overnight backpack on the AT in the panhandle of wv. Still snow covered- a little chilly but a good time - it's a warm up to the trip coming up.

Hopefully "warm" is the key word.

Nice, and good on ya for getting out in this weather. The temp was perfect, but the white stuff still on the ground is a pain.

My goal this year is to spend some time on the AT. I have a full map but I need to start marking off sections!

Damn! 16 people and counting. Let me try and figure out a way to squeeze in another day...

Also, just got the zombie target in and three rabbits.

I think we'll be able to completely destroy them.

[edit] And YES they actually stapled hair to the target.

too bad we don't have any tannerite to finish off the zombie after it has been shredded, like the last one !!

It was a little chilly but we took it good, I picked up a new liner for my sleeping bag which is awesome.

Same here for the hiking let me know sometime and we can try to catch up on the trail sometime. Usually we go out around Harpers Ferry

Your cry and plee for help has been answered there fine sir. I shall have 10 pounds accompanying me on my journey. If I may be so bold sir and ask if that is enough?

Last time I was out there the little gore store had tannerite. Also I think the Gander mountain in Winchester had it last I was there.
