Remember seeing that in the First Gulf War. Looked so cool that I bought some. Not terribly effective but it still looks cool.

That's fairly ambiguous. If you are referring to analysis from using Gen I or better NOD's in Grid Illusion studies you might want to purchase the other USMC MARPAT; but, add some local color via flat colored spray cans and some garnish and you'll find it effective. Button in the liner and you'll sleep well too.

Here's some cool patterns and I know I've posted them randomly before... the site used to have cool explanations of camo and how it was designed, but it looks like they took the links down.

On a side note, I think they'd get more business if their website didn't look like it was designed in 2002.

Edit:
Here's some details on their "US4ces" patterns. It's good info even if it is trying to market their own patterns

Great links JC. Thanks. I suppose one of the dilemmas I have here is that I assume the majority of readers are looking for something to serve their purpose at their best possible price, as compared to defense and other departments that can afford to seek the best available.

I agree... I really think it comes down to how that camo and colors will be used:

-Is it for hunting animals or hiding from bad guys?
-If bad guys, will they be running NVG or other light/wavelength sources?
-Walmart or Gucci cam?
-Do you want people to know you're trying to hide when you're not actively hiding (i.e. wearing a ghillie suit when at the grocery store)?

I think with human eyes, the use of black and negative space (like white/light tan in "First Lite" branded camo https://www.firstlite.com/asat/) are often overlooked or misused. Kinda like how navy blue may be better in low light than black and how light gray can actually hide well in a forest of brown/green.

Best multi-environment cammo I've found is the Rhodesian bush pattern. I nearly lost my jacket twice, just by setting the thing down. Once in northern New Mexico, and once in south Mississippi. If you can find two more different environments than that... (Sadly, I lost mine to Katrina. I need to find a place that sells it to get another one...)
