Air To Water Generators

Post by teotwaki » Tue Nov 24, 2015 5:26 pm

Not economical but if you can work from solar power and had one of these gadgets you could get by without a well. Basically a dehumidifier and may or may not have water treatment capabilities. Limitations are altitude, temp and local humidity levels.

Fascinating, Frank Herbert would be proud :)

I could see a use for these on Arrakis in arid areas, but water is so prevalent in and around my AO I don't imagine needing one any time soon.

...or Tatooie.
Reminds me, is Luke done fixing those moisture vaporators yet?

That Warka Tower is very cool. I wonder if they have plotted ouput versus available sunlight and air temps?

There is also the air well design. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_well_%28condenser%29

Nice! In Southern California the biggest point of failure is water availability. Lots of humid air near the coast so air to water is viable.

It is an ancient idea really. Invented a long time ago, in a place far, far away:

Not into digging up old threads for kicks, but the interwebz served this up while I was researching a tiny home that sleeps six.

The pitch pushes every paranoia button from climate change to government tyranny.

From what I’ve quickly learned about atmospheric water generators, I’m very suspicious about this and this guy is clever. A search on if this was a scam yielded a bunch of advertorials and press releases that all use very similar language.
