Valhalla Custom Kydex

Post by oden556 » Sat Jan 29, 2011 10:25 pm

Hey everyone I just finished my website for custom kydex work. Please take a look and see what you think. http://www.valhallacustomkydex.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I am open to all suggestions and constructive critisism. I am not done building the site yet so not all my pics are up. This is my first website and it was tedious to say the least.

Nice looking website. I'll get in touch if I ever make that neck knife I've been thinking about.

Any thoughts on making a Comptac/Raven style Holster for G19's?
Im pretty sure you have one, (and not to sound like a stalker or anything, just kinda google lucky) I also live in Olean, and would be interested in such a product.

I have been negligent to thank oden556 so I guess now is as good a time as any.

Valhalla made a sheath for my very vintage Western Baby Shark knife and I am more than pleased. Everything is super fine and the knife seats into the sheath with a pleasing click. All good in my book, very classy and a very nice piece of work.

The only constructive criticism I can offer is maybe less grommets in the sheaths.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I take pride in what I create. Please keep checking my website for new projects. At the moment I am perfecting IWB holsters for concealed carry. I also have a lot of pics I have not posted yet. Woodswalker, thanks for the critisism. Please keep in mind these are custom made so most grommets are spaced for MOLLE or TekLok attachments. I appreciate the comments though Woodswalker. Criticism is always key in any type of art.

oden556.

The biggest issue I have when playing around with Kydex is the tendency to get particles from the sanding process in the sheath and those can scratch up a blade even if I blow the dust out before putting the blade in the first time after the finish work. I can mitigate this a bit by forming the Kydex with tape on the blade but this only helps so much. Any tips?

Woodswalker
I wash the kydex out with warm water and a little soap if needed. Make sure you do this after all the sanding and shaping are done, and before you rivet anything. After washing use a rag to pull through the kydex to remove water and dust. That has helped me and I hope it helps you.

Ok, where to start.

The project, make a custom sheath for a custom kerambit, took much longer than expected and no feedback, so if I didn't ping him periodically I had no idea what was going on.

Then the kerambit and the sheath were sent back without letting me know that it had been shipped so I didn't know it had been shipped till a week after it was supposed to have arrived, which it didn't.

It was shipped back usps regular so no insurance, no certification of delivery, etc.

Now I'm out the cost of the kerambit, the cost of shipping to them, and the charges they billed me for, a little over $400 for everything and all I get is gee, I feel terrible about that.

Looks like I'll see them in small claims court.

And then, it would seem, Orcs, Trolls....all of the air was filled with negativity. Is it cyclic on this site perhaps? Can the dishonest now outnumber the honest? Where do I fit?
I cannot weigh this question right now so I will go back to my book; but, I will leave you a pleasant image of Batman surfing.
