Developing a FOLDING Zombie skull hammer

For those who live in areas where firearms are not an option and those that are smart enough to have a back up.

Developing a FOLDING Zombie skull hammer

Post by JoergS » Sat Oct 28, 2017 12:17 am

I made many skull crushing things in the past.

My "Zombie Hammer with skull ejector" was a major success and I assure you, it is a very effective weapon against the Undead. This is actually "Zombie Go Boom" confirmed.

But it is a bit unwieldy. Much like a baseball bat.

Now there are plenty of tomahawks and war hammers that are much smaller. And they are useful for other things you can/want to do with a small choping device.

But they are simply not BADASS enough for my taste. I want to keep the ball-and-spike design, simply because this is totally impractical for anything BUT cracking a Zed skull.

But I also want to keep it small and highly portable. So I settled on a folding hammer. Started out with this:

Made the hammer head first. 40mm massive steel ball, 10mm threaded rod through a hand turned 1" steel rod, threaded as well. The spike side received a shroud for more stability.

I mounted it to a steel bar and hammered it like crazy against my anvil, in order to test the welds. Holds just fine.

Then I started to make the handle, from steel pipe. 4mm wall thickness - this is solid.

Three positions: Closed, hammer and dagger.

Will now apply a spring powered locking rod that keeps the hammer head firmly in each one of these three positions.

Hope to finish it in time for Halloween!
