Shot Show 2017, anyone?

For those who live in areas where firearms are not an option and those that are smart enough to have a back up.

Shot Show 2017, anyone?

Post by JoergS » Thu Jan 05, 2017 11:23 am

I will go to Vegas for the Shot Show in ten days... for the first time ever!

Been to Vegas many times, mostly for the NAB (broadcasters convention). But never been to the Shot Show so far.

Should you go as well, you can meet me at the FX Airguns booth. I'll bring my prototype of the 8-arrow-Gatling airgun along.

I'd love to go to SHOT Show, but sadly I can't due to the fact I'm not in the firearms industry.

So I'm once again having to watch SHOT coverage on YouTube like everyone else. It's cool, though. I don't have to worry about spending money on a flight, hotel and other expenses.

Shot is much easier to get into then it sounds. But you do have to be at least tangentially connected to the industry.

Parts of it are extremely boring ("oh look, another $3000+ AR that looks exactly like every other...") but seeing exotic foreign guns that you don't have access to at even larger gunshows is a kick (the high end airguns and the steyr mannlicher booth are what I remember most clearly).

Also all the Mandalorian stuff is definitely worth the trip.

Meet as many people as possible, ask lots of questions, hit the afterparties, and get as much free stuff as humanly possible. You can sleep when you get home.
share your tobacco and your kindling, but never your sauna or your woman.

Does running an admittedly small and not very popular gun and gear review blog count as being connected to the industry or how would a guy like me get in ?

I know there's quite a few YouTube guys getting in each year, so I guess that might be one way to get in the doors.

You'll never know unless you apply. If you've made any contacts while running it you can always see if you can leverage someone more influential as a sort of "sponsor"

Thanks, RonnyRonin. I'm sure it's too late for me to get in this year, but there's always next year's show.
