Blade Show 2021

Post by Storm Crow » Wed Jun 30, 2021 4:21 pm

I've had at least one table at the Blade Show in Atlanta, GA, since 2012. They cancelled the 2020 show due to the 'rona, but was back pretty normal for 2021. I believe this was the most inventory I've had, and sales were good. It was just me watching two tables, so I was lucky just to get bathroom breaks. Here is a look at the inventory and some shots from the show.

I had two tables, one with mid-tech work, one with forged work. Everything was made from 80CrV2 steel.

I had four small carcass splitters, one of which was my donation piece for Knife Rights this year, one of which was a lamb splitter variant.

The lines on this Bowie were inspired by the shape of a Marlin 336 30-30, hence the name the Marlin Bowie.

This wakizashi and o-tanto both started out as pieces of steel the same size. One got forged out longer and thinner, one shorter and stouter.

I like your mid-tech line, but your forged work is amazing. When I was still on FB I posted a picture with one of the knives you made in the background and someone knew it was one of yours. So hey, you’re internet famous!

Internet famous is my kind of famous. Been a while since a random person recognized me in public from my episode of Forged in Fire.

I'm going to be doing more mid-techs from here on, but will definitely be forging plenty. Mid-techs will let me use the forged work for more creative endeavors (though I definitely have some creative limited-run mid-tech stuff planned out).

And there are a few things that combine the two, like these small carcass splitters. Rather than cut the handles and blade pre-forms individually, I had a CAD file built, waterjetted the blanks, and forged the blades out as usual. Gets past the time-consuming, tedious setup to the more interesting forging part much more quickly, and lets me produce more of them than I otherwise would.

All of the carcass splitters I had at Blade were made with these waterjetted pre-forms. And yes, they come with rivet holes to facilitate making slab handles for them. :)

I just looked back to see what my first posts on ZS were. One of the early ones was my first table at a gun show trying to sell knives, back in 2009. Dang, I have come a ways! Almost embarrassing that I posted those back then  , but I'm glad I put my work out there.

Here's the thread:

Thank y'all for checking out my blades and giving me feedback down through the years!
