Remember "Van Helsing" and his full auto vampire killing crossbow?

I ALWAYS wanted to have something like that. Tried several times. Gotten close to it with my 8-shot-gatlings, but the slow reloading and the limited mag cap...

Now I found the solution! 32 shots, 5 shots per second... operated by a 50 Nm Makita cordless drill.

Have now added more rubber (for a faster arrow flight) and oiled the wood.

This is fun!

Jorge, when the apocalypse happens can I be on your team?

I can imagine hearing this on the receiving end...
"What do you mean by "our entire left flank was just devastated by a bald German with a crossbow laughing manically?""

And the last words the left flank would hear would be "Let me show you its features."

You know he said "Yes, it can have removable mags"
Bratatatatatata click thump click bratatatatatata click thump click (Repeat)

A chest rig like cameramen use, and a squire to handle your mags... just saying... :ooh:

Jorge - can you upsize everything? use a heavier motor, and something more like a ballista? mounted in a pickup truck?

It'd be a modern version of a Hwacha?

Done that conversion by now. Made two mags so far, sawed out the parts for two more.

I see no reason why this can not be upscaled. But of course this means we are no longer talking handheld. Rack and pinion cocked devices end up being about three times the length of the ammo they shoot, and with that length the diameter of the pinion increases. This requires even more torque on the engine side. I think a good car starter and a car sized 12 V battery would be strong enough to employ a modern compound crossbow prod, anything beyond that we are talking car/motorbike engine.
