Official Lucky Dumbass Thread

Post by raptor » Wed Jan 15, 2020 1:32 pm

Please be civil and follow the rules when posting to this thread.
The purpose of this thread is to record for posterity (or posteriors?) stories of people who owe their continued existence to lady luck, good fortune or a simply random chance.

Basic rules: (for the time being)
1) The person(s) must survive with nothing more than minor injuries. Fatal & very serious injury incidents are not entertainment.
2) Sufficient reason to assume that the grief survived was self inflicted. (i.e.- due to being a dumbass)
3) Show sufficient reason to believe the survival was not divine intervention (no religion rule) but rather luck, random chance or other such "roll of the dice".

The Inaugural post is as follows:

H*lyF*ckingSh*t. Those parents should be tried for child endangerment.

Dumbass rule #1: if you have to be a dumbass, make sure you don't involve anyone else in your dumbassery. Especially children.

Those Safari parks are like Darwining sink. There used to be one in Orange County CA. Every time we took the kids there we witnessed this type of dumbassery. I remember this one guy getting out of his lowered VW to take pictures of a large Grizzly bear. The bear started following him around the car with increasing speed then stopped , looked over the top of the car and just clambered over it. The guy starts sprinting down the road to another car with the bear loping along behind him. The guy starts beating on the windows of the car to let him in but the family inside are like NOPE. So he starts running towards another car and they let him in. Guy probably sired a kid who grew up to be a politician

Don't most of these drive through parks have a big sign that says "Keep your windows shut and doors locked" when you first enter them ?

Just put up signs that say, "If you open your vehicle door or window the animals will eat you. If that happens we get to keep your car and stuff."

I'm sure there'd be a few used car lots that would be happy to make a deal with the park for vehicles in that case. :D

They never do.

If they did, this thread (and several thousand YouTube channels) wouldn't exist.

We just stole them when I was a dumbass kid. Thank god social media and smart phones with cameras didn't exist in my youth. Otherwise there would already be dozens of videos of myself on here.

Only real dumbasses I saw in those clips were:

1: Person on grenade training course.

2: Moped morons.

3: Drunk idiot jamming a knife into a toaster while his equally drunk friends egg him on. Everyone involved in that particular clip is probably a dumbass.

The other ones I'm not so sure about. Lucky ? Yes. Dumbasses ? Maybe.

The simple fact that this training area is surrounded by a "T" shaped trench tells me that the person in that clip is by no means the first person to do this.

I think the fact that the instructor grabs the person, throws them into the nearby trench and then pile in on top...well that one kinda goes from luck to pre-planning insight... the planners know their audience.

So I would call that a prepping win to question of: "What preparations do you make when your plan is to give a live hand grenade to a dumbass."
