I will be checking in but dought that I will write much or get much if any field time, a big drag is that I get lost way too easy to include finding a car in a parking lot. Aimless wandering has become a real issue since I get lost at the drop of a hat.

MRI read and the whole right side of my brain is mashed potatoe. Entering a whole new world that to tell the truth I don't care for one bit. I can see ok but not so hot at interpreting what I see. Knowing you were much more capable not to long ago is kind of a strange place to be.Whenttoday for a different chemo infusion which will be the last round. 10 percent chance of doing anything at all and may in fact cause me harm. Like I said we are in the final run at having some quality of life. Quality of life goes south very far will forgo getting poked prodded and medicated and see what happens and that is not a large mystery at this point. I got a guy with experience taking care of potatoe heads and traded my truck for future services, the truck was going anyway since I am defiantly a road hazard and no sense harming someone because I feel like going on ride to the woods with my mutts. Ahhh doing the right thing bites sometimes.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts see ya all later.

That's all we can do, you have had an eventful life. I know I keep stumbling upon your entries and soaking up the wisdom from them even still. Good luck with what's coming ahead, you still have some adventuring to do.

Black dog,
I rarely post on this site, but I do like to lurk it. Your posts have always been fantastic. In fact, my favorite ones to read.I get the feeling you are an honorable and formidable man. Like many have said before me, I wish I would have had a chance to meet you in person. Your posts have brightened my days. God speed Sir.

Blackdog...you know it isn't over 'til it's over, and I haven't heard the fat lady sing for you just yet. Shit, with half a head full of mashed potatoes you're still more on the ball than half those who followed after you. Keep on keeping on, one foot after the other....lean on your brothers, they're leaned on you....

I am afraid so. :( I wish there was any contact info for his wife and family. He was a major contributor, a walking storybook, and overall an incredible guy. He made a great impact on many people here. It is said to see him go into oblivion. I wish there was some sort of a ZS tribute to him.
I have the patch that he made for 2012 Bug Out contestants. Every time I look at it, I think of him.
He will never be forgotten.

Blackdog lived/lives in Eagle River AK, just up the road from me. Even at that, he never offered any local contacts.

I can only assume he has crossed Bifröst and is with his mates and friends.

Chicago Zombie and I were discussing this thread in PMs and some information came to light that we wanted to share with ZS members.
I was not friends with Blackdog but I was impressed by his continued efforts to participate on ZS despite his struggles with his affliction. His name was Michael and he died about 10 days after his last post at ZS. If you want to post a "memory" you can do so here:

http://www.tributes.com/obituary/show/M ... -103348888

I can't say for sure that his family will read them but you never know.

Michael distinguished himself during a 20 year career in the US Army having served multiple overseas tours: in the Republic of Korea and Germany, participated in the invasion of Grenada, served with the 7th Infantry Division in Fort Ord CA, was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg NC and a Ranger Instructor at Eglin Air Force Base FL.

The memory section at the site has a lot of cool pictures of him posted. I was surprised to see that he had hiked to the top of a mountain local to me
The pictures are too large to display here at ZS but they are worth a look!

I didn't know Blackdog/Michael well enough to post a memory of him on that website, but I will say that he inspired me here with his stories and I'm saddened that he's gone. My heart goes out to his loved ones and friends.

May his memory live on in those whose lives he touched during his time on this planet.

Rest in Peace, Blackdog.

ETA: I really think we should have some thread for ZS folks we've lost over the years. Sort of a memorial wall, I guess.

Blackdog was a truly standout guy.

He helped organize our successful bug out competitions and was very generous. Members probably don't realize he paid out of his own pocket for the badges we had designed. He repeatedly refused me trying to transfer him money to assist.

If you had a badge you have him to thank for that and I hope you remember him.

I didn't know him well but we would PM quite often about things and I still own a pair of his shoes that he was generous enough to ship to me via the member exchange. His love for hiking and the outdoors was infectious and had an impact on me pushing myself further - it's funny how someone you never met can have an impact on your life and the person you become.

Thanks Michael.
