I got a Sig Trailside for my birthday. It was okay.

A couple year later I sold it and used the money plus a little Christmas money to buy a Ruger Single Six stainless convertible. It was nice.

I got a Colt Woodsman for my birthday this year, so I ended up selling the Ruger.

(I get good birthday presents :D)

The first pistol that was officially mine was a 40 caliber Sig Saur my husband gave me. I hate it. The slide is a bear to pull back and I have to fight the thing to get it apart for cleaning. I never felt safe with it since I wasn't sure I'd even be able to pull the slide if taken by surprise and, while it could be fired without cocking it, I had to struggle with both fingers on the trigger to pull it back. This is a firearm for somebody with very strong hands. I milk goats and my fingers get daily workouts typing a whole lot of words. I haul hay and 50-60 lb feed bags. I don't think I'm all that weak, but I just don't feel this weapon is safe for me.

The pistol I bought for myself is a little Ruger SR22. It's a great size, the slide feels great, and I can take it apart and put it back together just fine. I love it. My favorite pistol, though, is my 357 magnum mare's leg. The handling feels better to me than standard pistol grips. I just wish it had a magazine feed. It wouldn't look as "westerny", I suppose, but I'd like the practicality of that style of grip with a magazine.

For me it was the S&W SW99 9mm. I should have tried more out before purchasing. Even with the grip insert choices, I've since discovered other handguns with a more comfortable grip for me.

Smith&Wesson M&P in 9mm full sized. Glad I know buddies with pistols who let me "test fit" with em. Glocks are pretty spiffy, just feels weird to me. LCP's and Shields are nice to but I think i found the one.

First handgun was a .32 ACP Sauer 38H. WWII German vintage.

Sold it and got a FEG Hi-Power, 1:1 Browning Copy

Sold it and built an AR

Bought a Ruger Speed Six in .357

Bought a 1911 High Standard

Carry the 1911 5" GI all the time, besides when I am at work.

My first pistol was an Iver Johnson PX22(?); it looked like a shrunken PPK. Put a bunch of rounds through it, mostly one at a time - it hated anything but Stingers. Then the slide cracked and there was no warrantee, so it went into the nearest river in pieces. My next pistol was a S&W Model 39-2. A much better experience!

Not smart, I would have sold it for parts on eBay , magazines for these sell for $35-50.

S&W Model 58. Put some nice Pachmayer rubber wrap-around grips on it. That pistol would really fill up your hand, but it sure didn't wiggle around any...

A Ruger P-95? Anyway it had a stainless slide, was DAO, .40
and an absolute piece of crap. Sloppy trigger, only ate
Winchester white box, and the slide would come forward
with so much force the follow up shot always seemed to
wind up in the dirt. Traded it for a 10mm Glock and
never looked back.

Walther PK380, hated it after a month, traded up to a G23, which I love.

First and only so far is my Ruger SR22. Only had experience with rifle from the Guard and I already had a 22lr, so I went to my local Shoot Straight and asked to see all of the 22lr pistols. We looked at a couple, and then they set the Ruger in my hand and it was a sale, just felt good to me. This is my carry pistol until budget allows a quality 9mm to replace it.

It was a CZ-82 in 9x18 makarov. I still have it to this day. It may not look great but it's pretty accurate and fits my hand well and it's cheap to shoot.

Both were from my Grandfather.

First pistol was a Llama chambered in 9 Largo, mfg. 1950s sometime- it was a jam-o-matic POS. Sat in my safe for 20+ years and I just sold it a year or so ago to get a G19 3.

First revolver was a New Service in .45 Colt that Gramps carried as his duty weapon as a copper back in the late 60's. Still shoot it once in awhile just to honor Gramps.

The first pistol I owned was a Ruger Security Six in .357. I traded my cousin a TV for it and kept it for a year or so. I pawned it when I was real desperate for cash and didn't get it out in time. I got paid on a Friday and went to pick it up but I was 3 days late. They sold it already :-(.

On my 21st birthday I was going to buy myself a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum in the local pawnshop for $440. I kick myself over not buying that occasionally. I took my ex-girlfriend out to stay overnight at a hotel and we picked cherries at an orchard the next day. I'm thankful for the memories but wish I knew more about guns and pricing at the time.

A Jennings j22 auto pistol. Is was so crappy it would reliably jam 99% of the time. It was good for at least one shot though. I was only 18 yo at the time I owned. I had parental consent to own a pistol. lol
