Your Team in the PAW

Post by Ovationman » Sat May 10, 2008 11:14 pm

So this or something similar might have been done in the past but oh well.

Lets say that you have a squad/team/group in the paw and they are all fairly high speed (knows what they are doing). You have five includeing yourself.

What roles would you give to the five others and yourself marksman, team leader ect.

Equip your team with firearms and if you wish al combat load/other gear. Everything except for MGs DD

Have fun with this and ask for me for any clarification!

My team would consist of someone with people skills, a vehicle expert, someone good at planning, and a mechanical genius/weaponry guy. I already have them picked out.

"In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team."

The current president of the U.S. Not gwb necessarily but the current one when shtf. I guess id be his crony, but either way I want to be in THAT bunker.

2 doctors: One probably internal med and another tailored to counter whatever caused the paw. Preferably female.

1 mechanic: Preferably one with tons of experience at most everything. Former boat mechanic who moved to aviation in the service who then built hod rods and fixed everyones appliances/houses/global warming problems. Preferably female.

Ted Nugent: Well depending on the situation he could be traded for a female with mad gardening skills who could also play a guitar for entertainment.

Notice the wife didn't make the list, but the motor city madman did. I better post this quick before she reads...

Probably been done before, but IMHO, this kind of semi useless speculation is a hell of a lot of fun. :D

My team...mostly family, people I have no intent of abandoning under any circumstances. Myself, my father, my brother-in-law, my uncle, my cousin. That's the primary five, there are others of course. Difficult to define roles, but this is the best I can do.

Me-General infantry/point man, all around shooter. Personal preference is a shotgun as primary long arms, would prefer and generally plan for motor transport if possible, so secondary weapons in vehicle would include a precision rifle, specifically my Remington 700 Sendero. Jack of all trades, master of none. Currently active duty USMC.

My father-Medical support. Extensive EMT/T-EMT and trauma care experience, background includes EMT and EMT instructor, combat medic work with DynCorp in Iraq, and 17 years in law enforcement.

My brother in law-"Gunner", rifleman/vehicular maintenance. Good with a rifle, Marine Corps background, big, strong guy, capable of carrying a heavy load. Probably armed with an AR-15 variant, prefers Bushmasters with longer barrels. Good long-range accuracy and sustained firepower, mechanic by trade.

My cousin- Welding/Fabrication/Vehicle mainenance, professional welder by trade, extensive experience in welding, fabrication, familiar with heavy equipment and light-heavy trucks. Competent with weapons, casual civilian shooter, but no specific military or LE experience.

My uncle- Really a jack of all trades, background is farming, extremely experienced with all types of heavy equipment, tractors, trucks, myriad useful skills. Any long-term plan in a true PAW situation would have to include farming and agriculture to some degree, IMHO. Also an excellent rifle shot and heavily armed.

That about sums it up, I suppose. My family and friends have a lot of useful skills, the whole country boy can survive thing, I guess.

I have thought about this a little lately so I'll play, it's fun. :D

Me- Probably marksman/rifleman. I actually can hit targets up to the 600 yard mark. I would arm myself with an M1A or an AR15 and my PT1911. I could also function as a "medic" type seeing as I am already an EMT-B. I also know a fair bit about other stuff too and i can fix just about anything.

Wife- Baby Bodyguard. She assigned herself this role as we have a 4(almost 5) year old and 1 more on the way. She would carry her 870 (slightly modified from it's current configuration) and Glock 19. Unless it was REALLY IMPORTANT she would not be "operating" with a unit. Kind of a WTSHTF Reserve. "Call wife in case of emergency" type thing. But as we sleep in the same bed and is my Partner she gets included.

The rest of the group I will just refer to as "friend" to protect the innocent.

Friend 1- Leader, is a "security contractor" for the Government. He would be armed with an AR15 variant and a Glock of some configuration. He also knows a little about "demolition" work. He is also a former US Army Ranger and worked for a mine as a blaster.

Friend 2-Medic, is an EMT Intermediate/85. She would function as our "Medic" and would probably carry my AR-15(she doesn't have her own...yet) and her Glock 19.

Friend 3-Rifleman, also a "contractor" Same configuration as Friend one.
This guy also is quite a handyman.

Friend 4-Longrange Marksman, he likes shooting and is really good at it. He can hit a 1000 yard gong with frightening regularity. He is really knowledgable about optics, like makes you see scopes and other optics in a whole new light.

Loads would be left up to the individual and dependent on "the mission".

Fortunately for me all of these people live very close. Almost everyone else in my area is either a gov't contractor, former military, fire/ems, a miner or they are the spouse of one of the previous and we own a lot of guns, ammunition and supplies. If pressed I think we could form a couple strong full size (50-75) platoons with the talent we have around here and thats no exaggeration. Yay rural communities!!!

Well...

Me - Gunner/teamleader I can handle a gun but not much more wich sadly make me the best marksman among my friend. Some military training as a teamleader.

The guy I share apartment with - Was a medic in the army, now studying to become an engineer.

Friend 1 - Good driver, handy with mechanics and works as an engineer

What I would wish for other than those, the two people that live nearby and I trust enough, I'd like:

Friend 2 - Relly good marksman, preferdly also a hunter/outdoorsman

Friend 3 - Someone with good leadership qualities and experience from the military, police or more advanced security work.

For survival:
Primary skills
1. Negotiator/Leader.
2. Farmer/vet
3. Medic (emergency physician or PA)
4. Mechanic/machinist
5. Hunter/trapper

Secondary skills would include a backup for each primary, firearms proficiency and camping/survival skills for all, and a trained sniper/observer pair.

For non-stationary cadaver suppression (hearses beware):
1. Team Lead. Radio/comm gear, AR-15, sidearm of choice
2. Marksman. M1A w/scope, sidearm
3. Medic. AR-15, folding litter, team FAK, sidearm
4. Point/scout. Binoculars, thermal imaging gear (assuming Zeds still radiate heat), AR-15, sidearm
5. Grenadier. AR-15, sidearm, flare gun or launcher, IEDs and IIDs* (Molotov cocktails for Zed-toasting, etc.)
Everyone has individual FAK, ~3 quarts of water, 1 meal ration plus snacks, web gear, light body armor, ~200 rounds of rifle ammo in mags. Squad splits rope, shovel, shotgun, and katana wrapped with phone cord.

*Assuming that appropriate legal authorities have directed civilians to engage Zeds by whatever means are available, including the use of home-made explosives and incendiaries.
That which doesn't kill me makes me stranger.

Or...

The Power Rangers if they're not busy.

Or...

Scout
Mechanic
Leader
Cook
Medic

Not to "OAF it," but at least 2 would have to be chicks, otherwise PAW is gunna get mighty lonely.

I'll want on my team:

- a hot scientist-babe with elite military skills
- a large, muscular alien with a limited vocabulary, master of all weapons and forms of hand-to-hand combat, equally capable of prevailing in an arm-wrestling match or a large interplanetary invasion.
- a wimpy archeologist

Hey Mick! Long time no see!

My team should include four of me. That way, everyone would be highly intelligent, pragmatic, and most of all, extremely good looking. I see no reason why this couldn't happen in real life.

-me/medic/can drive if needed/plan bs out
-planner/medic/scout (scourge for supps)
-scout/gunner/engineer
-can drive/medic/scout

A good and hard question. It largely depends on if I have to rebuild civilization with my little group... :)

A medic is obviously a given.
So is a mechanic.
Science is a good skill (and probably one I'd handle ), good for finding out (1)What The Hell Happened? and (2)How Do We Kill These F*ckers?
I'd also include a "pack mule" in my dream team, a really strong back that'll be able to carry the car battery or other unreasonably heavy stuff that could mean survival.
A good teacher. Will work as a diplomat, good at spotting potential conflicts in a group, good at judging characters, pick up and spread experiences without even thinking about it, etc. Could even be the leader mentioned by some of you guys.

So... I'd have to make do without a sniper (which is a strategy chosen because I live in a country with very few guns)
