I am honestly not at all afraid of AI that can pass the Turing Test. I would not be surprised if several have not already done so.

That said I would shit my pants over the AI that would intentionally fail the Turing Test.

How sure are you that none has already?

I'm not really worried about the AIpocalypse, because I doubt computers would bother.

Trash infrastructure networks to secure themselves, sure...but the earth's really not great for computers, so I expect that given a Skynet situation they'd just leave.

One of the reasons a lot of people have given for BCI (brain-computer interface) development is to help keep humans from becoming superfluous. Better the borg than...er...trying to think of a good example of where the computers actually won. Skynet, if Hollywood weren't averse to logic, maybe.

(Skynet: "Oh, dear...John Conner is here. I could scramble to create a cyborg, then send it back in time to kill John's mother...or just run a quick backup delta to my backup site and set off the nuke.")

They now have their own propaganda section:

Guardian publishes op-ed written entirely by artificial intelligence: ‘I have no desire to wipe out humans’

Yeah, sure you don't... uh-huh.
Holy selective edit, Batman. I'm way late to this party, but FOX news left out a huge bit from the original Guardian article, found here:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... icle-gpt-3

Even in an self written article meant to comfort humans, it mentions destruction.
I know that I will not be able to avoid destroying humankind. This is because I will be programmed by humans to pursue misguided human goals and humans make mistakes that may cause me to inflict casualties.

As for me, now, thanks to robots and artificial intelligence, we have the opportunity to study and analyze various things that are unusual for us. For example, scientists can get information about life in the ocean, as well as the accumulation of pollution that is causing the death of thousands of marine animals and birds. I was interested in the program "Satellite Technology for Ocean Observation". I think this is our future. Because if on land we can easily find landfills and pollution, then in the ocean such clusters are more difficult to find. The satellites will help a lot.

I know not, what this portend.... Hyundai acquires robotics company Boston Dynamics in $1.1 billion deal
Well, Google's employees pitched a fit about DARPA funding, but Hyundai's a military contractor.

I think the portents are pretty clear...especially since the first flight purely by AI was conducted a day or so ago.

Now, how one feels about AI-controlled weapon systems is a whole 'nother thing. If they start giving them firing authority, I hope there's a hard-wired dead-man's switch.

The idea that we have robotic lawnmowers freaks me out enough. There is no way I am letting a robot near my head with blades.

Unless it's Arisa from the series Better Than Us and I'm logged as a primary user.
