Then and Now: Photos of Abandoned Detroit School

Photos from when the school was operational are overlaid on current photos of the abandoned school. There are more like these at the link in the Bored Panda blip.

I have a friend going to Detroit this weekend and he wants to do some exploring. Anyone up there want to be a tour guide for a guy with a CCW and body armor? He's been to war zones in both an official capacity and as a tourist.

Never mind. He decided to go it alone. Here are some of his pics:

Sad in so many ways. Detroit used to be the 5th largest city in the US. It has less then half the population it had less then 20 years ago. Being a life long Michigan resident, it is really depressing.

Great pictures, though. Haunting.

Very cool pics.

For anyone who hasn't been there, I would recommend not condemning the place. It is rough, mean, abused and abandoned but parts of the city are still pretty cool and much of the rest of Michigan is pretty nice.

This is quite true. The area around Fox Theater, Greek Town and the casinos is pretty safe with very few problems.
