Office drone, 9 to 5, semi-expert-level, semi-technical.

It pays the bills and I don't hate it enough to settle for anything with less income.

The wife and I are both retired federal civil service, living off the tax donations and debt of working US workers. We know this can not continue indefinitely and are planning / acting accordingly.

Retired now, but the family business was construction, and I worked in that, off/on, for more than 40 years. When not working construction I managed to spend 6 years in the Navy, get a B.Sc. degree in CompSci and work as an editor and online celebrity for a computer magazine, did some general laborer work at MSG on the night shift, spent some time as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic and Verizon, managed several stores for a small chain of pet supply stores, became an EMT (ACLS certified) and spent 14 years driving ambulances in NYC, both professionally and as a volunteer, and taught the NYS EVOC course, owned a service station and was ASE certified, did paparazzi work for Rona Barrett, did a couple album covers for musicians that never made it big, was homeless for a couple years. Not necessarily in that order, and many of those jobs were concurrent with going to school or working full time and part time at two (sometimes three) different jobs while raising kids. There were also a bunch of jobs I didn't list because I didn't stay with them very long.

I work for my university as a parking enforcement officer. Yes, I'm a glorified meter maid. But I basically get paid to exercise every day since we cover the whole campus on foot. Give it a few months and I will have the legs of a god.

Just left my job as a salesmen in a big music shop to take a job managing a big chunk of a different music shop (guitars, band & orch, music school, etc..). Fun times.

I have stopped working as a nurse because of burn out. Was home a year and now I have ended up in city hall archives. Same employer as before, but now I file patient documents instead. Woo :)
