Where did 'New posts' link go?

Post by Beowolf » Fri Sep 19, 2014 4:11 pm

My "New Posts" link in board style SoftWood has disappeared. I went through the different skins and only found this link in two or three of them.

I see the 'Thank' feature was recently enabled--could these two changes be related?

We'll look into it. As far as I know, the "thanks" didn't affect softwood theme. The "share on..." might have, though.

It was still there as of yesterday. It's my primary browsing technique...I feel so lost!

Thanks for looking into it. :)

I thought your primary browsing technique was Tapatalk?

Not having "View New Posts" means it took me a while to find this. I'd just like to add:

Me Too.

I thought your primary browsing technique was Tapatalk?
I use Tapatalk as a mobile interface when I'm not in front of a computer. When I use a browser, I view new posts as my strategy to learn more and keep up with the forum. This was the case when I had to revert to using a mobile browser when Tapatalk support went away, too.

I always used Dirty Board then New Posts disappeared from it so I changed to Bl@ck, New Posts disappeared from that and returned to Dirty Board so I'm back where I started!

I'm using prosilver for my computer browser, and the new posts links disappeared for me, too. Wasn't there an active topics link as well? (not sure; might have been another forum).

Here's the active topics link in case anyone wants to bookmark it: http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/sear ... ive_topics

I got it by hacking the URL from PHPBBs forum at their website.

New posts/Active topics/unread posts/unanswered posts should all be back on prosilver now.

The other thing that's awesome is that the whole line of links--View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics--is there ALL THE TIME!! Before it only showed when you were viewing the forum index. It was gone in either 'new posts' view or 'view your posts'--but I can even see it right now with this reply window up.

Oh, happy day.

We tried for 3 hours last night to get softwood fixed and keep it fixed.

There's 2 problems:

1. Forum mods inherently break aftermarket display styles. Tapatalk, thanks, and share this are all mods.
2. Display styles that have not been updated by the authors in 4 years are much more likely to break than currently supported ones.

Softwood hasnt been updated since 2010 and it looks like we're hitting incompatibilities with it. I don't think we're going to spend much time trying to fight with display styles that arent prosilver2 and subsilver, to be honest.

Uhm...then it seems like a waste to have a less-than-functional board style there after having pared down previously. But, hey, I'm just a guy on the internet.

Appreciate the info.

It was functional with the version of PHPBB we were running last year when we adopted it, or it wouldn't have gotten installed.

But yall picked the themes, not us.
