Its a blood disorder. Doesn't require any medication to handle but was just curious.

You should check current restrictions- with the layoff in the Army (80K) and USMC (20K) might be a bit harder to get in.

Good luck.

Ask a recruiter. Unless we have a recruiter on the board, that will be the best answer.

That's probably something a recruiter could answer, but the military is picky about blood issues, especially for donor purposes. Sorry I can't be of more help. Don't be discouraged until you know for sure.

What is your degree?

I used to work in recruiting and can tell you the recruiter may have an idea but he does not know for sure. It is entirely up to MEPS medical staff and reviewers. The MEPS are making a reasonable effort to disqualify you from service. I will also tell you that Factor V Leiden it is a disqualifying condition so the recruiter may not even bother to send you down for a physical if it is in your records if he knows he can't get a waiver. A lot of things are waiverable some things are not. This changes all the time and right now they are in a period of cutbacks so it is most restrictive.

At a physical they won't test (at least they did not several years ago) for it so if it is not in your medical records it most likely won't stop you from joining. However if you develop a problem due to it such as DVT or some other aggravation to your condition that you are highly likely to run into during the course of military service then they may test for it then and in that case you are pretty much screwed. You could be put out without compensation if they think you hid your medical condition. You could also die or lose a limb unnecessarily. That would suck.

With all that in mind I would consider something other than the military.

Only for you, but if you're slowing down your squad because of something related to it, you're going to get someone killed. There are other ways to serve.

I always hated it when someone was a medical unqual. You can still do lots of other things.

I'd still contact a recruiter and see what he/she thinks. Since your coming in the door with an engineering degree and several related certs you may be processed a bit differently. If I were in your shoes I'd look into taking the EIT and/or PE exam for your engineering area while all of the math/physics are fresh in your head. If your turned down you will still have a set of credentials that could probably get you work at any number of firms.

Is Army Corps of Engineers and option?

Aside form that, there's also numerous fed and state agencies hiring. I don't think I shot anyone in Afghanistan who was on the short list to come fuck up 'Merica, but I know of several ACE projects that have kept my hometown in GA from washing away.
