Ah, I've been looking everywhere for the appropriate place to ask this question: Is this the place to ask site-related technical questions?

I'm trying to post questions, and I've tried two different image hosting services, posting them at 600pix the biggest size (I think) but I can't upload them. I get an error code saying something like unable to determine photo size in red and it won't let me post. Can someone please help?

Thanks!

I usually get that notification if the pic is over 800 high....But I also get it if I screw up the link to the pic.

The weird thing is that the error message isn't telling me that the pic is too big and that the links definitely work because I copied them back from my post to my browser and they work just fone :-/ Unless they are too big but it's giving me the wrong error message?

If it's an image hosting site, look for an embed or HTML code (should have [IMG] at the beginning and end)

Use the code tags and show us exactly how you're trying to post the pics.

Example:

Code: Select all

This is the link I'm trying to use -
Nonsolis Radios Sediouis Fulmina Mitto. - USN Gunner's Mate motto

I get this error code despite trying different image hosting sites:

"It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image"

I have cut all of the images down to less than 800x600

Example of image link: http://i.imgsafe.org/5585290.jpg

Another: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-un2gKEQYv5U/V ... 3313-1.jpg

Thank you!

I take the code in my address bar such as this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noGN55b-kVI

and I remove the "S" in HTTPS to get this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noGN55b-kVI

Then I use the YouTube button in the tool bar to set it up

Sir! Thank you very much! A small relief that it is not something I did. While I was on vacation I wanted to post up on my trauma bag but it may be a while before I can get back to it. Maybe I'll start the thread and put the images in later.

What hosting site are you fine folks I'm favour of these days? I've been with Photobucket since I joined ZS many moons ago, but they just keep moving backwards. There's probably a dozen other big hosts out there, who's using what?

You too? I thought I was the only one who made that mistake. Photobucket is the AOL.com of picture hosting sites.

It was simple and it worked. Now it's complicated and glitchy at best.

I'm sure there's a few good hosts out there. I just want to take a picture on my phone, upload it to the host, and easily share to a forum. This last part means things like resizing and rotating the photo, but I don't need filters or photo editing. I'm willing to learn another host, but I'm not interested in learning 5 different hosts to find out I like number 2 the most.

Imgur. Hands down the best and easiest to use.

I used photobucket for years. And been on imgur the last 5 to 10 years. Having said that, I agree with the above. If you use chrome get the "imgur community extension". It allows you to upload photos from the internet to your imgur account. With about one click. And then you just have to go to your imgur account and copy the code to be able to post. It's very simple. And the best part is it's FREE!

Don't forget to download your Photobucket images. You can do it in one go. All your pictures at once. Just google for a how to.

You can do all that with imgur.
