Meh... It's only a very small part of Manhattan and an even smaller part of the city as a whole. Hardly DICEworthy but since it made headlines I'll let it stay for the 6 or so hours it'll take for my brothers & sisters of Local 3 to get power back online.

The reports i read said ConEd wss not sure of the cause other than it was on the "transmission side".

Power and internet these days constitute life safety services. This type of event should be a boring annoyance at most. After all it is a reasonably infrequent yet predictable event. Shit happens, plan accordingly. Have equipment fail in a safe mode when power goes off.

I will get off my soap box.
