We've been lucky with the MJO being unfavorable to cyclogenesis, but it's looking like it might flip soon. If so, we could see another backloaded season like 2001 or 1998...

It has been very interesting patterns in the last several years. Florida hasn't had a landfall hurricane in over 7 yrs. looking at the forecast this morning... The threats are all originating from the gulf and Yucatan.... This time of year it is typically systems kicking off the coast of Africa.
