Great article, great message in terms of being self-reliant, situationally aware, and debt-free. I disagree with some of the stuff about society/dependency, but for the most part this is exactly what my grandparents tried to teach our family as we were growing up. We thought they were crazy. Sigh.

It is sort of funny how people worked so hard to get rid of the label "survivalist" and instead make the term prepper the common house hold label. Since Prepper is a label that did not come with the "crazy paramilitary lone gun nut hiding in a bunker" connotation that survivalist had built up over the 80's, at least until Doomsday Preppers started airing and prepper started becoming a dirty word.

Now this guy wants to distance himself from the label prepper, and take back Survivalist, with the addition of the Modern to it. LOL

The reality is it doesn't matter what you want to call yourself. Survivalist, prepper, homesteader, what ever. :words:
"Once a man has seen society's black underbelly, he can never turn his back on it. Never pretend, like you do, that it doesn't exist"

"None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME!"

Looks like yet another blogger trying to convince everyone that being (prepper, survivalist, whatever) means ascribing to a certain social and political philosophy.

Which is kinda the opposite of what I understand the ZS philosophy to be, which is along the lines of "it doesn't matter who you pray to, fuck, vote for, or how you dress, it's important to be prepared for bad things to happen." I'm sure the board has a prettier way of saying it.

Meh.

Hard for me to read something on a site so full of adds, links, and other crud.

ZS is one of the few boards that (thankfully) doesn't suffer from that.

It's that smug, superior attitude of theirs, strutting around in their fancy outfits like they're better than everyone else. Yeah, burn in hell, you snobbish bird bastards.

And don't get me started on pandas!
