The people who created RECOIL Magazine have a new magazine dedicated entirely to prepping. The first issue just came out. Any thoughts? Gonna go see if I can find it today. Image

I have a copy, and have thumbed thru it. Think of it as a prepping primer. It's written at a beginner prepper level, and focuses a lot on what I like to call the 'daydream aspect' of prepping. That being said, I let my girlfriend read it and it helped broaden her horizons a bit.

I just picked up a copy. Read the intro and they said its like prepping 101, but they're gonna go more in depth each issue. Haven't read much more, but it looks interesting. Seems like a good mag for introducing people to prepping.

I picked it up from Wally world yesterday. It is certainly different than other published prepping materials I've seen, in that the articles are well written, the gear recommendations are detailed (weight, price, links, etc.) and varied, and the ads are kept to a minimum. However, for nine bucks, it better have all of those qualities if it plans on sticking around.

I'm happy with the purchase. My wife asked to look at one of the pages, which is, to date, officially the most interest she's shown in the subject.

It's info is presented in a very digestible manner. My wife said she "might" read it.

I was just at B&N looking for the new Toyota 4X4 mag and came across it. Gave it a quick look through and it seemed pretty good. Basic but they say that in the beginning. Wanted to look it up online first to see what their all about. I'll probably give it a shot.

Considering its gonna be a biannual magazine, it's gonna be a while before I can give a definitive opinion. On the plus side, the people who have seen laying around the house have picked it up and it starts a conversation about prepping.

was a good first issue with some knowledgeable authors.
Here's my little thread on it. http://zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopi ... 6&t=107911

So I picked up a issue of American Survivalist magazine. On the cover is Crovel inventor Tim Ralston. (The guy who shot him self on Doomsday Preppers)
I haven't given it more than a cursory glance as of now, but I find it less digestible than OFFGRID.
Anybody have a more in depth experience with this (American Survivalist) mag?
Edited for clarity.

I read the entire thing and it has great info for prepping 101 (you'll get better info here) but the gear they recommend is top of the line very expensive gear. Now I understand that they need corporate sponsors and they probably get gear given to them. I don't see most of this as practical because well..... I can buy an Israeli gas mask with like 30 canisters for the one they promote. Now if I had won the lottery then hell.............. This would be my gear manual. Though.......... I didn't so I'm a cheap bastard!
