i think the bars are a good idea. even if they last only a few hours(im sure they would last longer) thats a few hours more than you would have otherwise.

dont put the bars on your door...

What about having those sheets that store owners have to block their store windows? I dont know what they are but they are metal sheets that roll down to prevent robberies.

Yea, but how would you effectively utilize them on your house?

bars on the windows..how long those would last would depend on how you set them up. If you used crappy bars...or just skrewed bars into wood or brick..then yes..eventually they could tear them down. I say..if you wanna keep em out...put the bars behind the windows. Right up against the glass. also...use double paned storm glass...that combo should keep any zomboheads (except for the dreaded brick-wielding ones) out permanently...and should keep those smart enough to pick up a brick amused for a while. and once they break the glass...they still have to get through the bars...If you really are concerned about it...put some bars vertically behind the glass..then some horizontally right behind those.

However, that's a lot of hassle. i'd say...you got storm glass windows...and bars right behind those?...board up the window behind that. should solve the problem. 1. nail it in reeeeal good. (preferably skrew it in) 2. they can't see a way in..so hopefully they'll think it's just another piece of wall and not bother beating on it.

What about plexy(sp?) glass? It should be plenty strong enough for the job. ( I think an inch can block .75 calibur bullet <doesnt sound right when i say it> Not completely sure.)
