A Disturbing Discovery about Dead Humans

Long after rigor mortis has set in, human corpses actually move their bodies “significantly,” according to forensic researcher Alyson Wilson.

Wilson revealed this disturbing fact after using time-lapse cameras to capture the decomposition process of a donor body at the Australian Facility for Taphonomic Experimental Research (AFTER) near Sydney. (Taphonomy refers to the study of how organisms biodegrade in death.)
My son, you will travel far, but never be alone, for I am with you, my M14 and battle axe comfort you.

That creeps me out so much.

1) I'm never donating my body to science. And I won't have to because...

2) I'm never going to die. That stuff just creeps me out.

This adds a new dimension to the phrase "That makes my skin crawl."

If you think about it the fact that hair and finger nails continue to grow after the heart and brain stop functioning would indicate that at least at the cellular level there is some activity. The bacteria in our bodies are also active after our death. So this does not really surprise me.

BTW much of what is termed settled science (i.e. blood stain patterns, fire forensics etc.) is not.

In fact true science is not and can never be "settled".
It can be merely accepted as the current level of knowledge; but true science always should question the truth.

I've heard the whole "fingernails and hair growing" thing is actually the skin shrinking and making it look like the nails and hair grew.

As an anthropology student, a body farm strikes me as a cool way to dispose of this spoiled meat, when I'm done with it. California University of Pennsylvania would be great, if they can get it started before I "stop". I'll at least try to stay, once I'm there. I'd hate to inconvenience the group.
