RaptorGoRawr is right on the money, hauling your stuff up the mountain on day one isn't so bad, hauling it down gets old fast. Bring the basics and leave the kitchen sink in the car. If you find yourself in need of said kitchen sink you can always go back and get it. If you are worried about getting to your car because its not awesome enough to park in the 4x4 lot look me up and I will drive you in my awesome 4x4 jeep to your car and bring you back so you don't have to walk, I'm a nice guy like that.

Carrying stuff down the mountain that you didn't use sucks.

For those of you considering attending ZombieCon for the first time, here's something I posted after last year's trip:

mystic_1 wrote:
Meanwhile, here's an elevation profile of the climb to Top Camp, starting at the stream crossing above Manbath, a 141 ft climb.

Base Camp, where most of z-con takes place, is that plateau at like 880ft. So, after hauling your stuff down a short dirt road to the registration spot, you'll be facing a stream crossing and then a climb up a steep, rocky slope of around 100 vertical feet, or around 10 stories. It'll be worse than 10 stories though, because building have stairs and shit.

Consider this last, physical challenge to be part of the registration "fee". If you're willing to "pay the price", suddenly the hygiene concerns of the manbath don't seem quite so important, now do they?

Well, I've accepted a new job, so instead of going to zcon, I am moving to a new city and getting to work. See Y'all next year!

Wait for the inevitable 3rd degree sunburn when a newbie doesn't take sunscreen seriously.

Horatio Tyllis,

I am truly saddened by the fact that you will not be at ZCon this year. :(

Hopefully next year, brother.

Hopefully. We have camping events up this way July 1 weekend and labour day weekend if you feel like joining too. Or just visiting. I have a spare bed for you anytime you like.

How's everyone going to fare without canadian coke this year?

Hey all,

I am thrilled to announce that Zombie Hood will be making it's US premier at ZCON. It is getting amazing reviews!

I started watching that trailer and wasn't that impressed, then stopped because I realized I wasn't viewing it correctly. Movies look a lot better when you're covered in a mud composed of sweat and dirt, sitting on a 45 degree slope in a folding chair that keeps pitching forward, drinking warm beer. It's going to be fantastic!

Love it. One of the great things about Z-Con are the great movies that we get to see there that we might not see anywhere else.

I'm looking at you, "Special Dead."

:D

Speaking of movies, anyone thinking of catching World War Z while we are out there? I'm thinking maybe in Potosi on the way home from Range Day.

Looking at Google Maps for theaters in the area, teh only thing I'm seeing in Potosi is a flea market. There's an AMC theater in Farmington, but that's in the wrong direction.

This place is ostensibly in (or very near) Potosi:

Starlite Amusements
15605 State Highway East
Cadet, MO 63630
(573) 438-4974

May be a drive-in? Not sure.

Another premier! The fine folks who created The Battery are granting us permission to show their film and have, also, send some limited edition Blu-Ray copies to be given away.

This is one of the smartest zombie films I have seen in a very long while!

Or me, lol. I remember everyone and their mother trying to slather me in sunblock even though I was fine. Slightly pink is normal for me.
