Paperwork won't be too bad, I think, and there are a lot of intangible benefits that go along with being a 501(c)3.

I have heard that 501(c)3s have first dibs on many government auctions (at least in MO).
A deuce and a half, or bus, might be in the future.

Does this change or improve how the individual chapters operate their local events and fundraisers? Very exciting news.

Would this include the Lifetime Memberships from the DragonCon fundraiser this year?

I believe that our status is retroactive to 01 Jan 2012, so...probably.

Confirmed. Our tax-exempt status is retroactive to our application date of 01 January 2012, so any donations made or memberships purchased in calendar year 2012 are tax deductible. Merchandise purchase are not tax deductible, however.

NICE!

See, I KNEW reducing the zombie hordes would be approved as a public service! You'd have to not have a brain to fight that one, and as well all can see from the CDC, FEMA and other government agencies, even THEY get it these days.

Congratulations. As an initial suggestion, next take the steps to be officially on the “Combined Federal Campaign” (CFC) charity list. The CFC is a program that solicits charity donations from federal employees (military & civilian). Even if a particular charity is NOT selected for individual donations, there are benefits to any charity on the official list.

Check the link: http://www.opm.gov/cfc/Charities/ModelCharityApp.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Best wishes, retired military officer & federal civilian employee, who was… tasked… as being CFC “officer” numerous times…

Okay, so I work for a company called Dell. Perhaps you've heard of it? ;) Getting disclosure type things out of the way - I must post that #IWorkAtDell

They have a Make a Difference program where every time I donate 10 hours of volunteer work (per quarter) - the charity of my choice gets $150. They'll also match every dollar I donate. Check out the info at http://content.dell.com/us/en/gen/d/cor ... difference" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am adding Zombie Squad to the list of new organizations. Whisk.e.rebellion - please send me the EIN / Registered Charity # for Zombie Squad via PM. I need that piece of info - it's critical on the application process. I'm the finance officer for ZSC XXX in Central Texas - but I still don't have my officer forum access, so I didn't get the news there yet.

This way, Dell employees worldwide will be able to participate. Every state - every country they're in.

Not to derail...I don't have my list in front of me, so I can't tell. Are you one of the signing officers for the chapter? Have you guys sent a request to have you added to the Chapter Officer's forum? We should be able to get that fixed for you. Send an email to chapters@zombiehunters.org if you haven't.

Thanks.

We'll post a copy of our exempt letter early next week that we'll be able to give people access to as they need it.
