Still broken for me even after yet another round of cache/cookie clearing. As explained in another thread, I'm staying logged into http://www.zombiehunters.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but not zombiehunters.org. The problem with that is that the update notification emails you guys are sending out are now all arriving without the www. in the link so I have to log in each and every notification.
Have you tried unsubscribing and resubscribing? That worked me.
Oh god, I'm subscribed to hundreds of threads on here. That'll be an epic march...

Anyway, unsubed/subed to this thread to see what happens.
Nope, didn't work. Even after unsubscribing and re-subscribing, the emails contain links without the www. which means the login problems persist.

I was unable to get logged in on Internet explorer, no matter what I did, tried the delete cookies idea, No Go.
I have now switched over to Google Chrome, and it works now.

It would be lovely if we could keep the rape jokes to a minimum. Thanks.

I have no specific thoughts on that, other than to point out that the admin team is a group of volunteers who take time out of their no doubt busy schedules to keep this site running for us, and that maybe a little appreciation is in order.

Well, this thread notification showed up with a www. in front of the URL, which made me hopeful that the problems had been fixed. Logged in perfectly, just like it should. Checked the other 3 emails from ZS. Email #2 had www. and logged in fine, email #3 had www. and logged in fine, I was all hopeful that the end was in sight. Then #4 didn't have the www. in the login email and failed.

It's like there's more than one ZS server that generates the update emails and at least one of them hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Is that actually the cause on the backend?

Whiskey:

I cannot stay logged in. everytime I leave the forum, I have to log in again. I check the 'log me in automatically each visit' when I log in, but it does not work.

I had bother with my iPhone but if I search for the ZS forums afresh and click on that link then I login with no problems.
As yet the 'view in safari' option in Tapatalk isn't working, nor is the link in any 'topic reply' email notifications.
But I can manage ok as it is.
^This worked for me.

BTW...thank you.

I've set things back to the way they were, which is technically wrong, but works for most people. You might have to do one more round of cookie purging, but now I'm able to do the following:

1) Stay logged in from zombiehunters.org
2) Stay logged in from http://www.zombiehunters.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
3) Not have the sid= in the URL
4) Open links to threads from emails/web/irc/etc

I give Odinsdown the benefit of the doubt and assume he thought ZS was hacked by outsiders, and not that the admin staff was responsible for the crash. But since crypto, et al have gotten defensive about it, I'm starting to think it was an inside job!

No, the cookie issue and the site outage were two different things. The cookies were set in a manner that was inconsistent with how PHPBB docs say they're supposed to be set, and we had a /few/ complaints about it. So, we took the outage as an opportunity to correct the settings to how the documentation says they're supposed to be.

Unfortunately, this turned out to cause problems for many more people.

So after dicking around with it for 2 days, we decided to just change it back to the wrong settings, which appear to be stable and least problematic for 99% of people.

Sorry for all the dicking-around with making people log in, we were trying to fix it for everyone.

I don't think it was wished on you - more likely wished on the dumb son-of-a-&$@# that ran a DDOS on the forum.

Thanks for whatever you did to get it back going again.

Hey Everyone:

I am able to stay logged now. I wouls also like to take this time to clear the air. I heard that ZS was the subject of a DoSS attack and that party was the subject of my comment. Not the mods.

Back to a no-go on the iPad. It was working, but not any more. I says that it logs me in, then takes me right back to a non-logged-in state.
